No Ordinary Genius: The Illustrated Richard Feynman10 reviews
Richard Phillips Feynman

W. W. Norton & Company, 1995

fun character fun book!
This book made me laughed and it made me cry but most importantly it taught me a lot, not just about feynman but a lot more other stuff like science, life, having fun and reminded me why I got into science in the first place. It was very inpirational as well as fun. If you want to know a little about what feynman was like, then you must read this book. I said "little" because there is no way ...

Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!2 reviews
Richard Phillips Feynman

Blackstone Audiobooks, 2005

Two Winners Feynman and Raymond Todd
Todd, who sounds nothing like Feynman, brings easy to listen to enthusiam and wonderment to this magnificent story. Feynman, just the single name carries the legend of this Nobel winning genius. However, the real story is the breadth of his interests and adventures. Independent thinker, he could probably have done the Challenger study alone and delivered a more useful product. His insights ...

What Do You Care What Other People Think?: Further Adventures of a Curious Character62 reviews
Richard P. Feynman

W. W. Norton & Company, 2001

Feynman was a great man
Not quite as funny as "Surely You're Joking Mr. Feynman", but just as touching. A pleasure to read. This books makes us like not only the man, but it also inspires us to join his quest for scientific knowledge and rational thinking.

Feynman Lectures on Physics1 review
Richard Phillips Feynman

Addison-Wesley Pub (Sd), 1965

The best physics textbook ever written
I don't know if I can add much to the many excellent reviews already written, but this set is quite simply the best. The first volume is wonderfully un-orthodox in its presentation of classical physics, doing physics the way Feynman does it. Even the chapters on stat. mech. and thermodynamics, which are usually so dull in texts, is fascinating, and one is just riveted to the book, waiting to ...

Perfectly Reasonable Deviations From The Beaten Track: The Letters Of Richard P. Feynman21 reviews
Richard Phillips Feynman, Michelle Feynman

Basic Books, 2005

Feynman on Feynman
My main motivation for reading "Perfectly Reasonable Deviations" was to gain further insight into Feynman's personality and value system by the direct and reliable method of studying verbatim his interactions with other people. He has been so thoroughly enshrined (perhaps not unwillingly) as a brilliant, difficult, puckish character that I couldn't help being a bit puzzled about what he was ...

The Feynman Lectures on Physics93 reviews
Richard Phillips Feynman

Addison Wesley Longman, 1970

For the love of physics ...
Here's the deal. If ya wanna do this whole physics thing vanilla-style, go buy and read a nice physics textbook. If you want to taste physics - really take it in, like a delicious chocolate mousse or a symphony orchestra or Shakespeare done by British folk, this is where you have to be. If you have the resources, the best way to really dive in is to listen to the actual lectures and use these ...

Feynman's Thesis: A New Approach to Quantum Theory4 reviews
Laurie M. Brown, Richard Phillips Feynman

World Scientific Publishing Company, 2005

Pure Feynman - a real joy
I did a course on quantum theory in the 1970s with John Ward who was recommended for the Nobel Prize in 1965 (Feynman, Schwinger and Tomogana shared it). Those close to the action will know of Ward's Identity. John (died in 2002 from memory) used Feynman's lectures as his course notes. I must confess a soft spot for Feynman. I would have loved to have been in his lectures (buy his audio ...

Richard Phillips Feynman

Perseus Books, 1994

Six Easy Pieces: Essentials of Physics By Its Most Brillant Teacher
Like most of Dr. Feynman's other books, this one provides someone with a short but understandable account of a variety of important subjects in physics. His descriptions of physics are entertaining and reveal his particular way of approaching the subject. To really understand any subject, it is helpful, I feel, to understand the way the people who have made important contributions to the ...

Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman: Adventures of a Curious Character231 reviews
Richard Phillips Feynman

W W Norton & Co Inc, 1984

Feynman never got out of his box, because he never had one!
Part physicist, part prankster, part musician, part teacher, part genius, part story teller, part little boy and all human being, this is the true story of Richard Feynman. He was a man with an insatiable curiosity, and had a zest to explore the world of physics, human nature and himself. The stories in the book are funny, entertaining and enlightening. Feynman never got out of his box, ...

Feynman's Lost Lecture: The Motion of Planets Around the Sun12 reviews
David L. Goodstein, Judith R. Goodstein, ...

W. W. Norton & Company, 1996

Lucid explanation of Feynman's proof of the law of ellipses
The book first walks you through the works of Copernicus, Galileo, Brahe and Kepler. Then it gives a brief account of Feynman's life and his work. Then, through numerous diagrams, the authors clearly explain Feynman's ingenious proof of the law of ellipses. Finally, the book presents Feynman's lecture "The Motion of Planets Around the Sun". It is amazing how Feynman, starting on the lines of ...

The Character of Physical Law (Pearl Classics)27 reviews
Richard Phillips Feynman

Audio Scholar, 1969

A great book by a great scientist.
A great book by a great scientist. Richard Feynman was a genius, a great scientist and a great teacher. This book is a testament to all three of these contentions. As the title states, this book is about physical laws: what they are, what they are not and why they require mathematics for their complete understanding. While the need to understand physical laws in terms of mathematics is ...

The Feynman Tapes, Volume 2 (At Cornell and The Draft)1 review
Richard Phillips Feynman

Tuvamuch Records, 2002

The Feynman Tapes, Volume 2 (Audio CD)
These audio CD's are much more convenient and durable than the lectures on tape. It's wonderful to be able to hear the master's voice just as if you were there in the lecture hall. Just thankful that these lectures are available on CD. I have transferred my CD's to my iPod so that I can listen whenever I have time - very convenient.

A purist won't grant something else for Feynman's Stories
Though Feynman died a pretty long time ago, an interesting phenomena, may be unique to him, is that he is constantly writing and publishing new books! That's because Feynman's bestsellers--the set of lectures given at Caltech, "Surely you're Joking", "What do you care?", "QED", and some others--were not written by him, though he is recognised being the author by everybody, including himself ...

Qed1 review
Richard Phillips Feynman

Dramatist's Play Service, 2003

Frenetic and Fascinating
This play comes up short as a deep history (see Gleick's "Genius" for that), but does a great job of laying out in broad strokes the diverse and idiosyncratic nature of one of the recent histories' greatest minds. I wish I had been able to see Alan Alda perform this piece, because based on how it read I can imagine that he did Feynman great justice.

What Do You Care What Other People Think? (Library Edition)1 review
Richard Phillips Feynman

Blackstone Audiobooks, 2005

The Last Literary Legacy of a Great Thinker
This follow on to Dr. Feynman's earlier book 'Surely You Are Joking Mr. Feynman!' is a series of tales on diverse subjects that interested Dr. Feynman. About half of them are concerned with the research into the explosion of the space shuttle 'Challenger' in 1986. This was an involved process mixing science, politics, and public relations. It also retells the tale of Dr. Feynman revealing the ...

Theory of Fundamental Processes2 reviews
Richard Phillips Feynman

Addison Wesley Publishing Company, 1961

Not for beginnners!
As a Feynman fan and layperson with a reasonable understanding of his work I found this book lost me before I was halfway into the first chapter. It looks good coursework material and from what I can tell is packed with amazing amounts of information. But without a strong fundamental grounding in basic physics this book will remain on your bookshelf.
