Really enjoyed this Book
Especially for those who are thinking of travelling alone or following a dream, this author encourages us with her adventures. I enjoyed his story and her guts to begin something new at an age when it's easy to get stuck!

Rice Is Life1 review
Rita Golden Gelman

Henry Holt and Co. (BYR), 2000

Rice Is Life is wonderful
I love this book. The artwork is colorful and simple, a pleasing combination for the eye. Not cutesy or too complicated And the story is poignant and accurately told. As the author spent a good deal of time traveling the Bali countryside, she comes to the writing with a real story to tell of the people there. It's a great look at the circle of life in a rice-driven society. The best thing is ...

Pizza Pat (Step-Into-Reading, Step 2)9 reviews
Rita Golden Gelman

Random House Books for Young Readers, 1999

We like it
I like reading this to my kids (aged 7 & 6). Cute book: "sloppy, choppy, gooey and gloppy" that kind of stuff.. Full of layers; this on that, that on this and so on... He's a creative cook; building a pizza - but oh how sad an ending for Pat; poor Pat! Yet it's a happy ending for others.

Body Battles2 reviews
Rita Golden Gelman

Scholastic Paperbacks, 1992

A terrific educatinal book for early readers.
An early reader (5-6) will find this a challenging bit of fun to read, outside of the usual "see spot run" fare. Later readers (7+) will find it a good introduction to the biology of the human immune system. As my six yearold who has read the book 50+ times, says, "this book is super-sensational, what-a-creational deadly dangerous stuff"

Body Noises1 review
Susan Kovacs Buxbaum, Rita Golden Gelman

Alfred A. Knopf, 1983

Body Noises
Ever wonder why your bones crack, or what makes you hiccup? This book answers all your questions about the "mysterios" sounds your body makes. "Body Noises" is easy enough for a child to understand and is typed in fairly large font. There are also fun little pictures to make the learning experience even more enjoyable.
