Swords and Sorcery1 review

Pyramid Books, 1963

A Good Collection
A good overview of the Sword & Sorcery genre. I didn't think the HP Lovecraft or Lord Dunsany stories really fit the book. But the Clark Ashton Smith story was excellent as well as the stories by Robert Howard and Fritz Leiber. Also includes material by CL Moore, Henry Kuttner and Poul Anderson.

Christians And a Land Called Holy: How We Can Foster Justice, Peace, And Hope2 reviews

Fortress Press, 2006

A Vision of Justice and Peace for Israel/Palestine
Charles P. Lutz, Minnesota coordinator of Churches for Middle East Peace, and Robert O. Smith, Lutheran Campus Pastor at the University of Chicago, have written an excellent primer on the situation in Israel/Palestine, primarily for Christian readers. As its subtitle indicates, this is a how-to manual. Four chapters deal with 1) what is so special about this spot in the world sacred to ...

Pediatric Hematology1 review

Wiley-Blackwell, 2006

easy to read
As a peds hemonc fellow, I enjoy reading Nathan and Oski's hematology text. However, that book is so extensive that I never finished reading one single topic. I always dreamed for a quick reference that covers the subject without sinking in too much molecular details which may not be clinically relevant. This book is my dream coming true, a text that fully covers subjects, but still easy to ...

Social Psychology: Understanding Human Interaction (Annotated Instructor's Edition)9 reviews
Robert A. Baron, Donn Bryne, ...

Allyn & Bacon, 1994

A comprehensive and balanced view of a complex field.
As a university psychology instructor who favors a text demonstrating good science, I appreciate the careful documentation of research contained in this book. I also appreciate the personal touch of the anecdotes at the beginning of each chapter as a way of making the subject matter relevant to students. The authors do a masterful job of presenting a complex field, such as social psychology, ...

Rainfall Books, 2005

More engaging fiction inspired by Clark Ashton Smith from enterprising Rainfall Books
Lost Worlds of Space and Time, Volume Two is the eagerly (well, by me) awaited second volume of fiction written based on, in tribute of or using themes and characters by the incomparable Clark Ashton Smith. I very much enjoyed Volume One. Just like its predecessor, Volume Two is a handsome trade paperback. Page count is 230, very generous, a little higher than Volume One. Like before the ...

Basic Algebra Teacher's Edition1 review
Richard G Brown, Geraldine D Smith, ...

Houghton Mifflin, 1993

matching ISBN numbers for Student and Teacher's Edition
I've dipped in and out of BASIC ALGEBRA, and it's been terrific. In particular, I found that the book's word problems worked well in a "Singapore Math" class for 4th and 5th graders. If you're trying to find the corresponding Student Edition, the ISBN number is: 0-395-98002-X. Copyrights listed are 1988, 1990, 1993, and 2000, although you don't need to worry about the dates. It's the ISBN ...
