Treasure Island3 reviews
Robert Louis Stevenson

Palazzo Editions, 2006

"First and last, we've split upon Jim Hawkins!"
Unfairly dismissed as a writer who wrote simple adventure stories, the popularity and longevity of Stevenson's novels have allowed them to join the literary greats, the most famous of which is "Treasure Island" (followed closely by Strange Case of Doctor Jekyll And Mr. Hyde (Tor Classics) and Kidnapped (Scholastic Classics)). To say that it is a classic is an understatement, as everyone knows of ...

Child's Garden of Verses, A6 reviews
Robert Louis Stevenson

Golden Books, 1999

A True Treasure found
Imagine my happiness when I found a copy of the book that night after night my mother had read to me as a child in the late 50s and early 60s - My copy had long fallen apart but this was the correct edition and as I opened the pages the illustrations welcomed me like old friends. I got the flu and my husband kindly read the entire book to me and then next time my Mom came to visit I read a few to ...

A Child's Garden of Verses4 reviews
Robert Louis Stevenson

Sterling, 2007

My Favorite Edition!
This edition was a favorite of my sister and I when we were kids. RLS's poems are delightful, but Ms. Fujikawa's watercolor illustrations add such charm and lush detail... and she perfectly captured the multicultural children. I am now the family keeper of our well-worn treasure. This is the most delightfully illustrated version (in my opinion better even than the wonderful Tasha Tudor's).

The Master of Ballantrae5 reviews
Robert Louis Stevenson

Oxford University Press, USA, 1999

Quite simply the best book I have ever read
I have always liked everything written by Stevenson, but The Master of Ballantrae far outstrips everything else. It is a subtle insight into human nature, and a great adventure story as well. The episodes are majestic, and the story, though bleak, is very touching. I have read it many, many times and think more of it the more I read it (to paraphrase Mackellar on page 1).

A Great Book for Children
As an elementary school teacher, I found "Poetry for Young People" by Robert Louis Stevenson, illustrated by Lucy Corvino, a wonderful book. It's a great way to introduce poetry to children because the poems are short and easy to understand. The illustrations have magnificently detailed illustrations without being overly complex or confusing. The children are drawn to the pictures, which ...

A Child's Garden of Verses
I received this book from a friend at Christmas when I was a child. I always loved it. I sent a copy to my great granddaughters 8th birthday last year with a couple of other story books and she said she loved all of them.

The Wrong Box3 reviews
Robert Louis Stevenson

Dover Pubns, 1985

Love, life and the perfume of UK under Gladstone
[submitted on behalf of G. Franco Mattioli, Milan] If you have some heart problems, it is better to avoid this book. You might have the same reactions that Rudyard Kipling had on this reading: laugh and fast heart-beating. Practically it is impossible to touch this subject without been absorbed through the mirror as Alice and in the same time to be happy to be different. Morris ...

Leaves from a Child's Garden of Verses3 reviews
Robert Louis Stevenson

Smithmark Publishers, 1993

Bouncing with delight
I've developed the habit of giving children's books at baby showers. I try to give a mix of rhyme, fairy tales and story books. I especially like to find books both parents and children will long treasure. The first time I found this book, I adored it so much it was hard to part with it. The illustrations are almost breath-takingly beautiful. I've given it away twice now but feared I might ...

TO DIE FOR!
Three classics books, three classic monsters, and three classic stories that have been told and retold time and time again, all here in one great book! I'm sure you Horror Film fans like me have seen the Boris Karloff Frankenstein, the Bela Lugosi Dracula, and the Fredric March Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, but if you haven't read the original novels...YOU AIN'T SEEN OR READ NOTHING YET! Buy this ...

The Dynamiter2 reviews
Robert Louis Stevenson

Wildside Press, 2007

A superb book! Mysterious, illuminating, entertaining
Minsoo Kang's stories are wonderful, contemplative and alluring tales and I highly recommend this book -- which looks on the surface to be in the fantasy/science fiction category -- to anybody who likes intelligent fiction. Kang has a raconteur's gusto for telling a good tale and is also a historian, disciplined and dedicated to ferreting meaning out of past events. As a result his is a book of ...

In the South Seas2 reviews
Robert Louis Stevenson

Wildside Press, 2004

In the South Seas
In his book, In the South Seas, Stevenson gives an accurate and in depth look into the people and culture of the islands of the South Pacific. The book describes Stevenson's two year journey from the Marqueses Islands, to Tahiti, then Honolulu ,and finally Somoa. Stevenson uses the great adventures he experienced and his masterfully writing skills to paint a breath taking view of the islands and ...

The Beach of Falesa2 reviews
Robert Louis Stevenson

Wildside Press, 2004

Stunningly brilliant portrail of Island Life & Prejudice.
Probably Robert Luis Stevenson's most brillient work. A sensitive probeing of race relations in a turn of the century setting involving an English Trader and a beautiful island girl. An interesting story, a sensitive love story and an exploration of what is best and what is worst in humanity. This piercing examination is as important today as when Stevenson wrote it. One can easily understand ...

Ye will love this book!
This book is great. Aside from the fact that there's a cute little dog in every page, the book teaches a very important moral. If you sit down just for five minutes with this book, you'll never put it down until you're finished with it! Wishbone is great!

Graphic Classics Volume 9: Robert Louis Stevenson (Graphic Classics (Graphic Novels))2 reviews
Robert Louis Stevenson, Mort Castle, ...

Eureka Productions, 2004

All the old romance, retold
"Treasure Island" is probably the first thing that springs to mind from hearing the name Robert Louis Stevenson. "Kidnapped," "Black Arrow" and other classic tales of high adventure sprung from his pen, leading more than one child to desperately wish for a one-eyed Pirate to stroll into his life. But like his other famous creation, Dr. Jekyll, Stevenson had his darker face, and some tales not ...

To Cherish and Treasure
I cried when I saw this book again. It had been a friend -albeit long-lost- for a long long time. I had the orginal 1957 Little Golden Book until that horrible Garage Sale that Mom had while I was away at college! Darn I miss that Chatty Cathy doll. But not even an iota as much as I miss my Mama. This is a wonderful and wondrous little book - Eloise Wilkin's pictures will stay with you and ...

Marketing to the European Laboratory: A Guide to Doing Business in Europe2 reviews
Peter J. Jenks, Robert L. Stevenson

Hnb Pub, 2001

Good book for small but expanding companies
The big players in the laboratory supplies and instruments markets have been successfully marketing to Europe for years and years, but small biotech companies looking to expand overseas will probably find this book to be very helpful--as I did. The chapter on contracts is especially illuminating and serves as a useful reminder that, once abroad, Americans have to play by the home court's rules. ...

Life Lessons
I had the pleasure of hearing Robert Stevenson speak at one of our client conferences. His book has great short chapters on all stages of life and his logic on home and work situations are easy to understand and implement.... I ordered several to send to my clients and was delighted to find the books were hand signed! Not sure all are, but it was a nice touch. We all know Turkey's...learn ...

A Magical Book for Kids of All Ages!
I love this book! By using Stevenson's poem, Ashley Wolff captures the magical moments of childhood in a way that will bring a rush of memories to adults, and instant recognition to children. Staying in bed with the flu or a cold, most children devise imaginary games to occupy their time. Future quiltmakers, carpenters and other folks, will recognize themselves in this book. A delightful ...

The Moon2 reviews
Robert Louis Stevenson

Harpercollins, 1984

An illustrator's wonderful interpretation of a classic poem; a joy to read and view.
This is truly a wonderful book. It is short, sweet, and simple. At least that is the way it felt as I read it and looked at the pictures. The text is a classic poem by Robert Louis Stevenson who lived between 1850 and 1894. And the watercolor illustrations marvelously bring the poem to life so the reader can better understand it. There are 15 scenes (2-pages each) in the book. The story is ...
