Oxford University Press, USA
, 2008
Today understanding of religion is essential to understanding many major news stories. This book examines how the media frequently miss or misunderstand these stories because they do not take religion seriously, and how they misunderstand religion when they do take it seriously. To the extent that journalists do not grasp events' religious dimensions, both global and local, the authors argue, they are hindered from, and sometimes incapable of, ...

Exceptionally reliable, readable and helpful.
This is the long awaited text for the first year of Dr. Gilbert's 3 year leadership seminars. Here leadership is grounded in a solidly scientific theory of human relationships. As such, it scintilates with insight. Like her other presentations of Bowen Family Systems Theory, this slim tome is exceptionally applicable, faithful to theory, engaging and succinct, without sacrificing depth. It is ...

Excellent way to counter drugs, crime, and other problems.
It seems that the greatest problems we face in bringing up our children are drugs, sex, violence, alcohol, and suicide. The best safeguard against all these problems, as shown in several massive studies is the child-family relationships or what is called "connecting." This book may be life-changing!
This book gives an explanation of Bowen's family system theory. The first half of the book is heavy on the theory, and then the second half gets into a little bit of how to use it in real life. It doesn't read like a self-help book, and Gilbert gets props for not using words like "codependence" and other jingoistic psychobabbly words. She's completely blunt and realistic, and it's all ...

Islam at the Crossroads is informative, insightful, and balanced. It's size and style make it accessible to the concerned layperson. It offers exactly what Christians in America (and around the world) need to understand as an introduction to Islam. Marshall, Gilbert and Green have written a splendid treatment of one of the most critical topics facing the Church today.
