It's So Amazing! A Book About Eggs, Sperm, Birth, Babies, and Families73 reviews
Robie H. Harris

Candlewick, 1999

Great book- Real life.
I have read mostly positive reviews about this book and I agree. We used this book for my daughter's Kindergarten body project when she wanted to know about where babies come from and I had no problem reading it to a 5 year old and a 7 year old, mixed genders. Though I know some have suggested that there is a political agenda in the book regarding abortion and homosexuality, I feel this book ...

Mail Harry to the Moon3 reviews

Little, Brown Young Readers, 2008

Nice illustrations and a very fun story
Having a little brother can be such a bother...oh where will it end? But, when looked at just right, little brothers can be a lot of fun, too. This is a fun book, with nice illustrations and a very fun story. I liked how the book teaches a lesson to children who get a new sibling. And, I must say that my four-year-old also liked the book. Well, that's good enough for me; I like it when she finds ...

Teaching its readers how one-year-old children are
Go! Go! Maria! is the second picture book in the outstanding "Growing Up Stories" picture book series written by Robie H. Harris and illustrated by Michael Emberley. Go! Go! Maria! is a warm and educational story about what one-year-old children are like. Following the adventures of a young girl living the second year of her life, it has many asides teaching its readers how one-year-old children ...

Let's Talk About Sex1 review
Robie H. Harris

Walker Books Ltd, 1995

Lets talk about sex
This book has a fantastic way of ensuring your child can feed a healthly couristaty on sex education. For any parent worried about how to talk to your child, then this book is it. The 'bird and bee' who follow you through each stage are wonderful in helping explain each chapter for children aged 8/9 years. For those who are 11 to 13, it really will aid them to understand puberty without ...

Hello Benny!: What It's Like to Be a Baby (Growing Up Stories: What It's Like to Be a Baby)1 review
Robie H. Harris

Margaret K. McElderry, 2002

A fine celebration which comes alive
Hello Benny! adds to the 'Growing Up' stories which tells of young Benny, who celebrates his first year of life. Simple text and large pictures tell of Benny's first experiences in life, from encounters with admiring adults to growing older. A fine celebration which comes alive with Michael Emberley's drawings.

Goodbye Mousie7 reviews
Robie H. Harris

Turtleback Books Distributed by Demco Media, 2004

realistically written and beautifully illustrated
I checked this book out at the library not knowing the subject. The cover shows a small boy playing with his mouse, but the first page starts out with the boy waking up to find his mouse "asleep". Written in the first person (of the boy), this book is sensitive and realistic in how a parent might help a young child deal with the death of a pet. It relates the father's tenderness in talking with ...

Happy Birth Day12 reviews
Robie H. Harris

Turtleback Books Distributed by Demco Media, 2002

Great book with very true-to-life illustrations
This is a charming, tender and very true-to-life book about what the first few minutes after giving birth are like -- really lovely. I would caution conservative families, though -- the illustrations are very realistic, this is not a "prettied-up" view of newborn babies. So if you'd rather that your children imagine newborns as looking like the Gerber baby, this may not be the book for you.

It's Not the Stork!: A Book About Girls, Boys, Babies, Bodies, Families and Friends (Robie Sex Books)15 reviews
Robie H. Harris

Candlewick, 2006

great for kids!
I got this book for my two boys, ages 10 and 5. They were so interested in it. My 10 year old's best friend was there the night when I started reading it to my 5 year old. At first they were giggling at some at the pictures. But pretty soon I had all three of them on the couch with me just soaking up information. They even asked some questions, and said they learned some things they didn't ...

I Am Not Going to School Today1 review
Robie H. Harris

Simon & Schuster Childrens Books, 2003

Enjoyable support to ease starting school jitters
This sensitive portrayal of a child with the willies over starting school is an engaging story in itself and will also bolster the resolve of young ones approaching their own first days at preschool or kindergarten. The little boy in this expressively illustrated book seems not to have had the opportunity to visit his classroom in advance, or meet his teacher, but evidently is already familiar ...

Sweet Jasmine, Nice Jackson: What It's Like To Be 2--And To Be Twins! (Bccb Blue Ribbon Nonfiction Book Award ...1 review
Robie H. Harris

Margaret K. McElderry, 2004

Great book for 2 year old twins
I originally thought this would be too advanced for my two year old boy/girl twins. They ask to read it over and over every night before bed. Even though we don't emphasize the "twin" thing in our family, they love the colorful pictures and the age-appropriate stories on each page. The parent tips are great too. Very well written and a great choice for kids and adults.

Let's Talk About Where Babies Come from1 review
Robie H. Harris

Walker Books Ltd, 2002

Let's talk about where babies come from - Robie h. Harris
A great book for reading with your child or to leave them with. I read this cover to cover and feel it describes things very well at a pre teenage understanding. It covers a great deal in a sensitive way, from sex to relationships to dieases, but also covers family set ups and different parenting, i.e gay or adoption. A very extensive book that could be re read and refered to thoughout early ...

Hi New Harris and Emberley book
Harris and Emberley have again joined forces to create a wonderful book. Hi New Baby helps parents and families adjust to a new baby with this up-close look from a not-so-sure- about-the -new-baby sibling. Emberley's soft illustrations capture those funny new born looks. Don't forget to come back7 reviews
Robie H Harris

distributed by Random House, 1978

If ever I would leave you...
What makes a good picture book? Well, in my humble opinion, a good picture book is the kind where you read through it, enjoy it, then glance at the copyright page and shriek with befuddlement when you realize that the original text was written waaaay way back in 1978. The year of this reviewer's humble birth. This fact is so amazingly shocking because "Don't Forget to Come Back" is a book that ...

It's Perfectly Normal: A Book About Changing Bodies, Growing Up, Sex, and Sexual Health62 reviews
Robie H. Harris

Rebound by Sagebrush, 1999

I needed it when I was 10
Yes perhaps there is a liberal bias to the book, but the bottom line is that for parents who are too nervous to be honest with their children about these issues, this book is a high quality alternative option. My mom bought it for me when I confessed my fears of puberty, getting my period, and the fact that girls I knew had been masturbating since the age of six. I needed to know that ...

Messy Jessie3 reviews
Robie H Harris

St. Martin's Press, 1987

One Funny Book About Messes!
In this little read we find a little girl who loves to make a mess and she does a good job in this story. She draws red dots on her face and invades the refrigerator where the real fun begins as she makes circles with raspberry yogurt. Soon both the little girl, her dog and the kitchen is anything but clean. Daddy is not pleased, but we find in this story that he understands his daughters ...

It's Perfectly Normal: Changing Bodies, Growing Up, Sex, and Sexual Health52 reviews
Robie H. Harris

Demco Media, 1996

Demographics vary by region, gender, and individual
The material is appropriate for teens. What I want parents to consider is "at what age"? Girls start puberty before boys. Different regions of the world have puberty starting sooner or later. Further, there is a huge distribution across individuals as to when puberty starts. It is far better to have your kids learn about this "a little too soon", than "a little too late." It is the ...
