Eyebeam: Teetering on the Blink2 reviews
Sam Hurt

Texas Monthly Pr, 1988

It changed my life
I picked up a copy of this book a long time ago from the kansas university bookstore. I couldn't believe how much better it was than anything in the paper. Why wasn't it in the paper?!! of course! It was too good to be next to those cheap hacked out cookie cutters. it was sam hurt that inspired me to start my own career as an underground cartoonist . And it was sam hurt that I ultimately blame ...

Eyebeam Therefore I Am1 review
Sam Hurt

Andrews Mcmeel Pub, 1984

Surrealistic fun
Are you tired of "Mary Worth"? Find that "Dilbert" just doesn't seem so cutting edge anymore? "Zippy the Pinhead" is not hitting it for you anymore? And let's not even discuss "Doonesbury"! Than _this_ is the book for you - Sam Hurt takes you into his surrealistic world, lawyers in love, monsters, friends and lovers and other strange things. The drawing is sort of reminiscent of James Thurber, ...

Eenie Meenie Minie Tweed1 review
Sam Hurt

Andrews Mcmeel Pub, 1985

As good as all the Eyebeam books
This is one of the series of Sam Hurt's "Eyebeam" cartoon books, and it's as good as all the others--funny, thought-provoking and endearing. If you haven't read it, it's worth it.

I'm Pretty Sure I'Ve Got My Death Ray in Here Somewhere3 reviews
Sam Hurt

Andrews Mcmeel Pub, 1982

All the Eyebeam books are hilarious.
The 7 Eyebeam books are gut-wrenchingly funny. They directly address key personal and societal issues we struggle with as we mature(?) as adults, with an inspired irreverence. But they are not (very often - except for the lawyer jokes - which is fine by 99% of us) mean-spirited. And Ratliff is the most consistently funny strip character since Opus. And how many strips feature a ...

The Mind's Eyebeam2 reviews
Sam Hurt

Andrews Mcmeel Pub, 1986

Lost Gem
As a lover of several of the classic comic strips (pogo above all, doonsbury, krazy kat, calvin and hobbes, peanuts, i could go on!), as well as many less prominent and/or more contemporary (and sometimes downright obscure) ones, i am sad that sam hurt's eyebeam hasn't gotten the circulation it deserves. The thing is, i think it rates up there with the best for wild, scintillating inventiveness ...

Eyebeam: Render Unto Peaches3 reviews
Sam Hurt

Texas Monthly Pr, 1988

Out of Print?
It is absolutely outrageous that the Eyebeam series is out of print. Example: Ratliff is in the tub singing Michelle Ma Belle, Eyebeam enters and says " is that ABSOLUTELY necessary?" and Ratliff innocently replies, "well no, but it sure makes me smell better." This was bar none the funniest comic ever done. OUT OF PRINT? Criminal.

Our Eyebeams Twisted1 review
Sam Hurt

Andrews Mcmeel Pub, 1985

Can't Go Wrong with Eyebeam
If you've read Eyebeam, you know they're one of the funniest comics of all time. Calvin & Hobbes meets Bloom County frosted with a little Tundra--we're talking laugh-out-loud funny. This book is no exception. Meet Molene and IM4U, and bust a gut with the rest of the staff at Shortbread and Snuff, LLC. For those of you who've never read Eyebeam, don't deprive yourself any longer.
