One of my 10-year-old's favorites!
My daughter is not a "girly girl" in her reading choices but does love animals. She said the book was exciting and caught her attention in the first two chapters. She got it from the library originally and asked me to keep renewing it. She read it four times in a row. She had not read the first book in the series before this one.

Unusually Cool!!
Don't let the title of the review throw you off. When I say "unusual," it usually means it in a good way. In the case of Varjak Paw, it is unusual because the story line is very cool, and the drawings are very, very weird and crazy. I loved this book, and if you liked the Warriors series, then Varjak Paw is a must-have for you.

Enjoyable read for parent & child
I read this book in installments to my 9-year-old boy. He loves cats and takes martial arts and loved this book. He chose it for a book report later in school. The story moves quickly and has more to it than many books written at the same level (there is a lot of white space, and there are pictures, but there are a lot of ideas well presented).
