Taming American Power: The Global Response to U.S. Primacy12 reviews
Stephen M. Walt

W. W. Norton, 2006

Learned, Low-Key, Somewhat Disappointing
I would not normally have bought this book, but the dogmatic criticisms of the work from what appear to be very angry Zionists compelled me to support the author and see for myself. I can certainly understand their objections: the author provides a very fine overview of how Israel has bonded and penetrated the U.S. Government at all levels including junior staff levels in both Congress and the ...

The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy181 reviews
John J. & Walt, Stephen M. Mearsheimer

Farrar Straus Giroux, 2007

This is a must read for anyone interested in politics!
Wow! Very impressive! If Mearsheimer and Walt's analysis doesn't convince you of the power of the Israel lobby, one can only conclude that you are either playing without a full deck or you are somehow benefiting from the Lobby's power and want knowledge of the Lobby suppressed.

Perspectives on Structural Realism

Palgrave Macmillan, 2003

Realism remains a predominant and most debated theoretical approach in International Relations research. Whether considered a scientific and accurate reflection of world politics or as reactionary and a distortion of realities and possibilities, both realism and its structural variant continue to be a source of fruitful research—whether within the program or in its rejection. The Realism approach itself is not uniform whether in relation ...

The Origins of Alliances (Cornell Studies in Security Affairs)2 reviews
Stephen M. Walt

Cornell University Press, 1990

How Perceptions Matter in Alliance Formation?
Balance of power theory is one of the basic pillars of (neo)realist theory of international relations. It basically argues that states balance against the rising power since it creates a vital problem for their security. Since states are living in anarchical self-help world they should balance against the rising state(s). In this sense, Stephen M. Walt's The Origins of Alliances challenges this ...

Musclebound: The limits of U.S. power.(US cannot always succeed in foreign relations): An article from: ...1 review
Stephen M. Walt

Educational Foundation for Nuclear Science, Inc., 1999

Advises appeasement whenever others oppose us
Stephen Walt points out that the United States has enormous influence in the world. Plenty of people in science and business use English. Even our culture and free market democracy are popular elsewhere. But Walt boasts that such power does not guarantee that the United States can achieve its foreign policy objectives. Here, I think he's overlooking something. I think if we want to do ...

The Israel lobby and U.S. foreign policy.: An article from: Middle East Policy4 reviews
John J. Mearsheimer, Stephen M. Walt

Thomson Gale, 2006

scholarly, honest analysis, Americans need to read this article
Wow, this article has finally brought out in the open many facets of the US-Israeli relationship that have been taboo to discuss. Kudos to the authors who are both well established scholars in their fields! Previous reviewer (Jill Maltin) has an agenda beware. Her comment "There isn't much left to say about this infamous article" is outrageous and untrue.
