Dirt [Unabridged] by Woods, Stuart [Audiobook]1 review
Woods Stuart

Books on Tape, 1996

A delightful departure for Stuart Woods...
Woods seems to write smooth and solid thrillers as fast as most of us read them. Cop-turned-lawyer Stone Barrington of New York Dead returns with all his street smarts intact in this story about a powerful gossip-monger who has the tables turned when dirty pictures of her start appearing on fax machines across the country. The characters are so rich, famous, and upscale that you might get a ...

A Great Tale Of The South
This story is about a small town in Georgia called Delano. The story takes you from Delano's founding in 1919 and centers around it's Police Chiefs in 1920, 1946, and 1963. Oh yeah, there is also a serial killer involved. Stuart Woods is a great story teller who I enjoy reading as I do John Grisham. Woods takes you there into that small Southern town and you feel the moods of the people and ...

White Cargo26 reviews
Stuart Woods

White Cargo
I like Stuart Woods because he creates characters that most of us would like to be like. The setting for this novel is a successful businessman taking time off to sail around the world with his wife and daughter on his luxury yacht. Who can't relate to wanting to do that? I think his best works are his independent stories, such as this one, and "Chiefs." I enjoy the Stone Barrington and Will ...

Reckless Abandon1 review
Stuart Woods, 2004

Stuart Woods
I got hooked on the Stone Barrington series and have gone back to the beginning to catch up. Stuart Woods is excellent in hooking you in from the very first pages and leaves you not wanting to put it down..there are always twists and turns and unexpected endings.

A Man and His Luggage6 reviews
Stuart Woods

Amazon.com, 2005

Life Staged by Honey-Colored Leather
The pull was quick, into this story of the barren financial beginnings of a current superstar in the world of mystery novels. Empathy was easily engendered in the opening paragraph: >> ...One morning there appeared in the New York Times a full-page ad for the now-departed Abercrombie & Fitch, introducing its acquisition of a line of Italian luggage called "Whip di Roma." On my lunch hour I ...

A necessity for a resident interested in Peds Ortho. Full of information -- clearly written, easily read and absorbed.

Chiefs (Unabridged) Audio Cassette1 review
STUART WOODS

Recorded books, 2000

Gritty & Witty
This epic tale of the South spans fifty years, beginning with the appointment of the first police chief in Delano, Georgia, in 1919 and the first of a series of disappearances that will baffle police for half a century. Mark Hammer gives a slow, judicious impression to the story of Will Henry Lee's career as police chief, the long period of racial tensions, the election of Lee's son to governor ...

Friendship Is A Verb (In A Hurting World)1 review
Stuart Wood

Xulon Press, 2003

A Real Gem
I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I opened this book, but what a Gem it turned out to be. A collection of Prose and Poetry written within a range of styles around the themes of friendship and relationships. The book is written with an aching honesty about the author's experiences, that immediately draws you in, and rather than just identifying with the author, begins to make you really ...

Deep Lie15 reviews
Stuart Woods

Thorndike Press, 2001

Quite a good thriller
Another submarine thriller in the same vein as Tom Clancy but pacier and without the ponderous detail. The writing of course makes all the difference. A female protagonist discovers a master plan, a creation of a foreign government, and sets out to foil it. Her only obstacles are her bosses who do not believe the evidence. Woods appears to have researched this throughly. A vey good read.

Excellent read
He makes the books very exciting and I just want to hurry and read it so I know how it ends. To keep a person attached to a book like that takes a lot of talent, and he's got it.

Excellent spooky mystery!
This was another great novel by Stuart Woods. I started out listening to the Stone Barrington novels on disc and finished them all with enjoyment. Then I started on Woods' other novels and was delighted to find they're excellent...every one of them has been a wonderful ride. This particular novel is quite good with well-developed characters and great settings. From an interview with Woods, ...

New York Dead37 reviews
Stuart Woods

A lot of fun!
In this Stuart Woods' book, we find Stone Barrington in his first outing. He is a Lt. Detective on limited duty due to a bullet he took to his knee and has decided after an evening out to walk home in order to get some exercise to it when, in a case of being in either the right place at the right time, or wrong place at the wrong time, he witnesses a woman falling from a building. It turns out ...

ONLY IN HOLLYWOOD
Credit must be given to the prolific Stuart Woods for pulling off a novel in which the entire cast is heinous and unlikeable. L.A. TIMES pulls it off beautifully. One can't help but get involved in Michael Vincent's rise to the top of Hollywood cream and his fall from grace too. Michael will stop at nothing to get what he wants and a lot of bodies pile up on his rise to the top. He's ...

Very enjoyable - quality but still easy, fun reading
Picture yourself in the aftermath of a moment in which, after feeling frustrated to the point of believing your life to be doomed after someone plans to screw you over, you give in to a nasty temptation seeking revenge, but just as you realize how stupid you've been, you are suddenly in too deep to escape. That is what happens throughout this book and it makes for an interesting read. I think ...

Dead in the Water62 reviews
Stuart Woods

Excellent fast paced mystery with a surprise ending
I'm really enjoying all of the Stuart Woods' novels with Stone Barrington. This one was a continuation of Stone's private life with a huge adventure into a hellish vacation in St. Marks defending a woman of murdering her husband. It's a fun ride. The only thing I'm always surprised at is Stone's avarice for bedding anything in a skirt. Of course they're all "beautiful" women with a voracious ...

Excellent Woods' story
I have read many Stuart Woods books and this one is one of the best. The story may seem a tad futuristic, but the characters are as real as they come. The beginning of the book is outstanding when the lead character, Jesse, makes a deal with the feds. His journey after that time is gripping and feels very real. The ending of the book is excellent.

AMAZING book
I read this book OVER 10 years ago. My father made me read it to keep me busy during a road trip. I loved the book but I was never big on reading AT THE TIME.. Needless to say, the next year I started high school and athletics took up my reading time from then on throughout college. My girlfriend's a "book-a-holic" and got me back into reading and today when we were at the bookstore I was asked ...

Fast Read
Although I love Stuart Wood's Stone Barrington novels, I must admit that once in awhile I like to read his other books that are based on different characters. This book was one of the fastest, most thrilling books I have read in a long time. It focuses on Liz who is nearly beaten and raped to death by her husband who happens to be a famous football player who is drugged out on steroid and ...
