Do you like whales and dolphins? Do you like to learn about them? This is an information book. There's information and facts. Here's one fact I learned - the blue whale can spout higher than a building that has three floors! Anyone who wants to learn about dolphins and whales, you might like this book.

This is THE Book for Fans of Surrealism & Tanguy
This is a long-overdue volume, fully and gorgeously illustrated, covering the life and works of, in Breton's words, "the purest surrealist." The reproductions are masterful and directly relevant to Tanguy's development, while the commentaries remain truly informative without foundering in the numbing dryness so typical of this type of overview. Tanguy's fantastic, evocative visions have not ...

development of Pollock's art style
The German subtitle translates "works on papers." The three essays in German discuss the tools, materials, and techniques Pollock used for his art works on paper. The third essay has photographs of pencils, felt-tip pens, and eye droppers this major modern artist used in creating such works. Seventy-eight are pictured in color one per page in chronological order in one gallery-like section of ...

Counting to ten in a Japanese garden through haiku
It makes sense to adopt a non-traditional definition of haiku for this counting book that looks at the hidden secrets of a Japanese garden. So what is impressive is that the haiku in this volume follow the traditional five-seven-five syllable pattern. "One Leaf Rides the Wind" combines the haiku poems of Celeste Davidson Mannis with the illustrations of Susan Kathleen Hartung, created using oil ...

Helping me face the loss of my son
Having lost my only son, I found this book to be of great comfort to me. Both authors have treated this saddest of subjects (i.e. the loss of a child) with insightful compassion, sensitivity, hope and dignity. I find this book to be of tremendous help to me, as I sort out my thoughts and feelings. I can only say, I hope that anyone who has lost a child will read this book.

Great Reference
OK, so I didn't exactly READ this book through... there are tens of thousands of quotations in here, along with such things as John F. Kennedy's complete inaugural address and other famous speeches in their entirety. When I was searching for "just that right quote" for a speech I was preparing, I found exactly what I was looking for, along with a dozen others I wish I could have used. And that ...

Wonderful, though more text than I wanted
I was very pleased by the large number of high-quality reproductions. Still, as far as I'm concerned there should have been *more*. The book contains (a rough count) about 280 pages containing text or mostly text, out of about 630 total pages. However, I'm very happy with the book.

Interesting!
Photojournalism has always fascinated me, and I was really glad to find this book that provided a glimpse at what the genre is all about. Digital photography's immediacy really lends itself to journalism, as the examples in this book prove. Highly recommended.

Brokenoggin Falls, Michigan...who knew?
Romance and sex in a small town. Yippee! First off, the concept of this book is unique, I think. The subject matter, the treatment of the subject matter, and the cooperative skills of the twenty authors are much better than I expected when I purchased the book. I thought it might be just another anthology of sexy stories. So much more! The whole idea of a weird and wonderful place, ...

a Haida artist
"guud san glans, Robert Davidson" is the full name of a contemporary Haida artist whose work was exhibited at Reed College in 1991. His work is in the Haida tradition: totem poles, but with modern techniques. For example, traditional totem poles were hollowed out, but many of his are in the round, meant to be self standing. Very attractive and desirable art, with cultural significance as well.

Best Compilation Yet
I haven't actually bought this book yet, in hopes of receiving it for Christmas, but I spent an indordinant amount of time looking at it in a bookstore - and even went back to admire it again. I love Joseph Cornell's work, and have perused all available volumes with pictures of his artwork, and this is the most complete and beautiful. His shadow boxes are displayed one per page - page after ...

Very simple to understand, but very impressive ..
A university faculty has very important position as a educator though he spent a lot of time as a researcher. No student can not be a great professionalist without the proper training from the sound minded and well planned teacher. This book reminds you again. Once one became the the new faculty in the university, he spent most of his time to become an active researcher before he becomes a good ...
