Sammy Shrimp is Sensational
I really love this series of books. My 7 year old daughter wants everyone. The names are catchy and she likes reading the list of books in the series. "Sammy" is out most recent addition to the book and although they are educational, there is something about it that just catches a kids attention. Maybe it's Sissy Shrimp teasing Sammy about being a little shrimp. (I think the focus is on "s" in ...

Nature Series Review
The nature series books written for children by Suzanne Tate are wonderful. The books teach children about animals, mostly sealife, while reading. As an adult her books have taught me alot that I did not know! I have all but two of Suzanne Tate's nature series for children. I only wish the series would continue with more books.

Logs & Moonshine is the only one of Tate's four oral histories (see also Bring Me Duck, Memories of Manteo, and Whalehead) to be set on the North Carolina mainland. Fun story and super science content!
I purchased this book at SeaWorld, along with Stevie B. Seahorse, for my 4 year old. It's an extremely captivating little story, packed full of solid science content conveyed through the action of the tale -- not in an encyclopedic fashion. The writing is clear and easy to understand, and includes only a couple of challenging vocabulary words which are well explained. The drawings are great, ...
