The Living Gita: The Complete Bgabavad Gita-ACommentary for Modern Readers 4 reviews Sri Swami Satchidananda
Integral Yoga Publications, 1997
The Living Gita for Living People I have explored several versions of the Bhagavad Gita with commentaries, among them, that by William Q. Judge and the one provided by Paramahansa Yogananda. Previous to reading The Living Gita, I have been confused and haven't understood the ideas expressed. Sri Swami Satchidananda presents the text in easy-to-understand English, and offers concrete examples drawn from our everyday life to ...

God (With the Words of Swami Sivananda, Himalayas) 1 review Peter Max
William Morrow, 1970
Simple and Beautiful! If you love Peter Max's artwork, you'll enjoy this. If you share a similar or the same kind of spiritual concepts conveyed in this little book (Max was a student of the teachings of Swamis Satchidananda and Sivananda), you'll enjoy this even more! I have all three (God, Love, Thought) and each is a delight to go through again and again.

Enlightening Tales: as Told by Sri Swami Satchidananda 2 reviews Sri Swami Satchidananda
Integral Yoga Publications, 1998
Teaching Tales These delightful short stories turn on lights in the mind. Like Christ's parables, many tales exist in India that illustrate moral lessons in a vivid way. Satchidananda retells many of these in everyday language, making them feel close. He adds a few original tales of his own. Although I don't think every one of the tales suitable for children, most of them would delight both the parent who ...

Integral Yoga Hatha 4 reviews Sri Swami Satchidananda
Henry Holt, 1970
Back to Basics--and Much, Much More A seminal book on hatha that takes a gentle, thorough and, above all, healthy approach to yoga's physical aspects. It's all here--poses, meditation, breathing, even the more esoteric cleansing practices. All of it conveyed with the author's injunction to listen to your body and progress steadily and surely. This is not for the "power yoga" crowd who do hatha for a beautiful bod. You can ...

Meditation: Excerpts from talks by Sri Swami Satchidananda 1 review Sri Swami Satchidananda
Integral Yoga Publications, 1975
a treasure anyone with any interest in yoga or meditation, must buy this book.
I'm almost laughing just thinking about its price of five dollars..
I put it in my Amazon cart because Swami wrote my first yoga book [Integral Hatha Yoga] and I knew him to be a genuine authority on Hatha Yoga, and, as I was also buying Swami's translation of 'Yoga Sutras of Patanjali' [also, a treasure of its type] and ...

Beyond Words 4 reviews Swami Satchidananda
Integral Yoga Distribution, 1977
Light yet enlightening This book elucidates the greatest and most inspiring teachings of Hinduism, and yet does so in a way which is full of humor and wit and shows the universality of the teachings and their immediate relevance for daily life. Special technical terms and other boring academic BS are virtually nonexistent, and the book's filled with lots of clever little stories and fables to illustrate the teachings. ...

Best book written about vegetariansm ever! This is the best book ever written about veg*ism! It is not just for Vegetarian people trying to eat healty - I also give it to everyone who questions why I am vegetarian - this book explains it better than I ever could. It explains in a POSITIVE way why people are or should switch to a vegetarian livestyle, another reason why I give it to my meat-eating friend - after reading this book, they not ...

Sri Guru Gita 1 review Sri Swami Satchidananda, Laforge
Integral Yoga Publications, 1998
Guru-Gita I found this to be one of the clearest and simplest translations of the Guru-Gita! Some translations are esoteric and difficult for a layperson to understand. But this translation is very straightforward. In addition, it's easy to sing the verses making it especially nice for those of us who like to chant this text in English.
