Morality Tale: A Novel
Sylvia Brownrigg
Counterpoint
, 2008
When this novel's unnamed narrator meets the elusive but exciting Richard (an envelope salesman with a nice layman's line in Zen philosophies), he offers her a friendly escape from her dreary domestic life. Burdened by her husband's ongoing negotiations with his angry ex-wife, the strains of looking after two stepchildren, and the lingering ghost of her own past betrayals, she finds that the life of a “second marryer” leaves much to ...

Different- Sensual, Sweet and Heartbreaking
There are books like Stella Duffy's "Calendar Girl" that have abrupt, tragic endings, and then there are books like Sylvia Brownrigg's "Pages For You". Fresh visions, cosmic comics, good stuff!
I love this book. The ten stories are fresh, comic, poignant--fun and funny and thoughtful. The writing is tremendous: Brownrigg's use of language is cool and assured even as she paints seemingly outrageous pictures. Highly recommended.

Then, as the story begins to move in and out of the email converstations things pick up and I couldn't put the book down. At that point I realized (or at least speculated) that the writing style was meant to set a tone for the story. As the book switches characters, the ...
