Scribbles: A Really Giant Drawing and Coloring Book 29 reviews Taro Gomi
Chronicle Books, 2006
Fun! My four year old got this out of my gift pile (to give to others), and had a great time doing the first half of the book. Needless to say, it works for almost any age! It gives you the beginning of a picture (usually) and gives you guidance on what to draw. Here's an umbrella, draw some rain. Fun and creative gift for any age!

Bus Stops 8 reviews Taro Gomi
Chronicle Books, 1999
Popular with the toddlers! I frequently give this book as a baby gift, and get reports back that it always becomes the baby's top favorite book, the one they want to read everyday over and over - and since it's mostly a visual book that lets the child explore objects and places, and has art-quality illustrations, parents enjoy it too. Taro Gomi's books don't aggressively teach, but just let a small child wander slowly and ...

Santa Through The Window (Trd) 1 review Taro Gomi
Millbrook Press, 1995
Santa experiencing appearance and reality. Great! A beautiful Christmas book for little children. Superb colours and design. The story very well illustrates how careful one has to be with appearance as reality always turns out to be different. My little niece enjoyed it very much. This is definitely one of the best children's books I know. Congratulations Taro Gomi!

My Friends/Mis Amigos 13 reviews Taro Gomi
Chronicle Books, 2006
...With a Little Help from My Friends My Friends by Taro Gomi is a beautifully illustrated book about learning simple skills...with a little help from your friends. And in this story, all creatures (from the tiniest ant to the teachers at school) are your friends. My daughter loves this book, reciting page after page which friend teaches her what task. The overall message of this book is that a child can learn something from ...

Squiggles: A Really Giant Drawing and Painting Book 12 reviews Taro Gomi
Chronicle Books, 2007
MUST HAVE This book is a must have. It is great for developmental learning and gives children directions that are easy to follow. I have worked with kids for several years and wish these books were out a long time ago so I could have spread the word sooner. Truly great books.

Doodles: A Really Giant Coloring and Doodling Book 23 reviews Taro Gomi
Chronicle Books, 2006
Great fun This doodle book is great fun for my daughter. It is a good item to keep in the car so she can pick it up and doodle a page or 2. I would say take it on a trip, but it is soo big!?! My daughter is 11 and likes art; this would be great for young children as well.

Doodle All Year 5 reviews Taro Gomi
Chronicle Books, 2007
Best coloring book for adults I am an adult that still likes crayons, I'll admit it! But the coloring books that I found were clearly geared to the 5-year-olds, and that was a little young even for me. This book (and its companion volumes) is perfect for a doodler and crayon user of any age. Fun to leave out with crayons and pens, and watch who starts to doodle. It is irresistible.

Spring Is Here/Llego La Primavera 7 reviews Taro Gomi
Chronicle Books, 2006
simple eloquence I bought this book just for it's large print and short sentences. (ez reader). despite these two 'requisites', this is not just a baby book!
If you want to introduce your child to the 'flow' of eloquent vocabulary, this book should do it!
It is NOT a dumbed-down baby book. It is much more fun for me, as a parent, to read than any other baby book that I have met so far!
I can see why the ...

I Lost My Dad (Children's Books from Around the World) (Children's Books from Around the World) 3 reviews Taro Gomi
Kane/Miller Book Pub, 2001
Children LOVE Taro Gomi This book has been critisized for being a cold and uninviting treatment of the subject of a child getting lost. In my experience as a mother and elementary school teacher I have found the exact opposite to be true. Children respond with rapt interest to the colorful illustrations and marvel as the die-cut pages are turned to reveal something unexpected every time. The language is simple and easy ...

Who Ate It? (Pb) 1 review Taro Gomi
Millbrook Press, 1991
A pleasant surprise The very first time I read this to my daughter she asked me to read it again... then again... and again. Now, she 'reads' it to us! She cannot read the words, but she remembers them from the pictures. Nice illustrations. Get's the 1-2 year olds involved by having them find something in the pictures.
