I bought "Assembling the Shepherd" after hearing Ms. Rumsey give an impressive reading of her poetry in Manhattan. It's been a long time since I've been this enamored of a book of poems. Rumsey's debut collection is exquisite and original. This young poet is one to watch, and the considerable buzz surrounding her first book is (for once) well deserved.

This is the kind of book you stay at home for. The writing is poised and controlled but the poet allows the reader into the world of her poems effortlessly. I recommend this highly and without reservation.
