Fear of the Dark (Doctor Who)4 reviews
Trevor Baxendale

BBC Books, 2003

What's a evil force like you doing in a place like this?
Fear of the Dark is a Dr. Who novel by Trevor Baxendale. It's his fourth Dr. Who novel, and the first one to involve a different Doctor than the eighth. Baxendale does an excellent job with this one, creating his very own Who horror novel with some chills and a tight cast of characters. It's only marred by an ending that seems to take forever and some wooden characterization. Baxendale is ...

Doctor Who: Wishing Well (Doctor Who)1 review
Trevor Baxendale

Random House UK, 2008

Excellently Creepy Read
It might not win any awards for being the most original novel, but that's not really the point, right? There are some familiar elements here to anyone who's seen or read the Doctor's adventures. But that doesn't stop the story from being a fun, quick read. The central mystery and threat in the story is suitably creepy, and in some ways quite frightening considering the all-ages intent of the ...

The Janus Conjunction (Doctor Who Series)6 reviews
Trevor Baxendale

BBC Books, 1998

Excellent Eighth Doctor Novel
The author does an excellent job of characterizing the 8th Doctor and Sam, aswell as the other main characters. The mood of the book is suitably dark and the locations are fantastic but beleivable. The pace of the adventure is quick, although it did get a little bogged down in technobabble towards the end (making a few jokes at it's own expense along the way). It would make an excellent TV ...

Eater of Wasps (Doctor Who)6 reviews
Trevor Baxendale

BBC Books, 2001

Gruesome, but effective
Interesting cover (not that you can see it on Amazon, but you probably can on its UK site). I have not been a fan of Baxendale's previous works. The Janus Conjunction was rather dull and Coldheart was just plain bad. Eater of Wasps, however, was *very* good. I do not like wasps, and thus this book really creeped me out. Baxendale's descriptions of wasp attacks were well done. Every time he did ...

Doctor Who: The Deadstone Memorial (Doctor Who (BBC Paperback))5 reviews
Trevor Baxendale

BBC Books, 2005

Eighth Doctor Gothic................
This is a well paced, well crafted and quite eerie story, and draws the reader in and does not let go. Baxendale captures actor Paul McGann's Eighth Doctor quite well and all of the other characters are well crafted and fleshed out as well. High on the "creepy" factor and suspenseful, this is an exceptional entry into the Eighth Doctor series, and I highly recommend it.

Doctor Who : Coldheart6 reviews
Trevor Baxendale

BBC Worldwide Publishing, 2000

Is that a GIANT SLUG in your pocket...?
Great, traditional Doctor Who monster story. Genetic mutations are occurring within the population of Baktan and the Doctor has found out the cause (see front cover pic - arrrggghh!!!) You'll find the Doctor beaten up a lot more than usual, Compassion is changing slightly, and Fitz, well, it's revolutionary and girl trouble again for him. Baxendale has a great way in describing his planetary ...

Something In The Water (Torchwood)2 reviews
Trevor Baxendale

Random House UK, 2008

The perfect Torchwood novel!
First, let me say that I had my hopes up when I bought this book. Owen is my favorite character in Torchwood, and I was enthusiastic when I read that he'd be the central character. And you know what? I was right to keep my hopes so high! This book is absolutely perfect. The characterization is spot-on, the dialog is amazing, and the action is, ultimately, just Torchwood. While I've never had ...
