Death and Honor (Honor Bound)36 reviews
W.E.B. Griffin, William E. Butterworth IV

Putnam Adult, 2008

Another great tale!
W.E.B. Griffin continues his great traditional of military storytelling. This is another fine example of his ability to weave a compelling story around a little know aspect of WWII. His characters and writing style always leaves me waiting for the next novel.

The Saboteurs (Men at War)106 reviews
W.E.B. Griffin, William E. Butterworth IV

Jove, 2007

Griffin's work - always the page turner!
The Saboteurs is another less than 24-hour read, Griffin's books are like popcorn, you can't do just one. The Saboteurs may not be Griffin's best work, but I liked his twists and turns. There's a story tightly woven with bits of history and characters to cheer on. I just re-read the Brotherhood of War series and I'm looking forward to re-reading the Corps series in a few months. As a retired ...

The Hunters: A Presidential Agent Novel (Presidential Agent)65 reviews
W.E.B. Griffin

Jove, 2007

Great dialogue, great details
The third book in the Presidential Agent series continues right where The Hostage left off with our hero Charley Castillo trying to unravel a mystery that could have far-reaching consquences. Griffin's level of detail and sheer knowledge of how the various levels of government and military operate are only surpassed by the witty dialogue that truly brings his characters to life. You really feel ...

Counterattack (The Corps Book 3)13 reviews
W. E. B. Griffin

Jove, 1990

Great Historical Fiction
W.E.B. Griffin is a great writer of the historical fiction. He is able to weave historical facts with a little bit of fiction and keep the reader's interest with a great story. The whole Corps series from before WWII on in to the Korean War are connected so well that you could sit and read the whole series back to back in one sitting if you had the time.

The Souls of Black Folk (Barnes & Noble Classics Series) (Barnes & Noble Classics)44 reviews
W. E. B. Du Bois

Barnes & Noble Classics, 2005

Speaks The Truth To Power
In 1903, two years after Booker T. Washington's autobiography, "Up from Slavery", W.E.B. Du Bois published "The Souls of Black Folk", a series of essays which today most consider a seminal work in African-American Sociology literature. Du Bois view of race relations in American at the dawn of the 20th century was clear, critical and deeply profound. Throughout the fourteen chapters Du Bois ...

Line of Fire: Corps 05 (Corps)8 reviews
W. E. B. Griffin

Jove, 1993

A Marine never leaves anyone behind
This book is all about the Marine code of never leaving anyone behind. Fleming Pickering puts together a team to pull two of their men off a tropical island. They have been left there for quite some time in order to be part of the Coast Watchers that were placed throughout the South Pacific. Their purpose was to keep an eye on what the Japanese were doing in order to maintain the US position ...

Dealing the Cards from the Bottom of the Deck
"Wild Bill" Donovan is holding a wild card. And it is about to be played in the shadows of the war-torn battlefields of World War II, with the planned Allied invasion of the European continent being the river card. W.E.B. Griffin and William E. Butterworth IV continue the Men at War series with a meticulously paced novel through a chessboard of pieces; star power, political brokers, shady ...

Black Ops
W.E.B. Griffin

Putnam Adult, 2008

The Russian bear is stirring—and it’s hungry— in the #1 New York Times –bestselling series’ thrilling fifth novel . The first disturbing reports reached Delta Force Lieutenant Colonel Charley Castillo in the form of backchannel messages concerning covert U.S. intelligence assets working for a variety of agencies suddenly gone missing and then, suddenly, inexplicably, found dying. Or dead. One in Budapest, Hungary. One in Kiev, Ukraine. One in ...

Soldier Spies (Men at War)31 reviews
W. E. B. Griffin

Jove, 2000

WW" -Action in Central Europe.
A thoroughly gripping novel dealing with the exploits of the OSS in Central Europe. WEB Griffin writes at such a pace that it was hard to put the book down. It is good to have the same characters in the series Men at War. You feel that you know them intimately! Highly recommended.

The Corps, Book 2: Call To Arms13 reviews
W. E. B. Griffin

Jove, 1987

Just fine as a semi-historical war novel
If you buy a W E B Griffin novel looking for shootin' and lootin' combat action, you'll probably be a little disappointed. For new readers, I strongly recommend the first two volumes of The Corps series. As an ensemble, the characters are the most compelling of Griffin's works and the stories follow a mostly historical time line. Readers whose view of WWll comes from old B&W movies may find ...

The Generals: Brotherhood of War 06 (Brotherhood of War)18 reviews
W. E. B. Griffin

Jove, 1986

W.E.B. Griffin has done a superb job of this story
Although the series of books are about Special Forces & Army "Airdales", (I'm sorry, it's the Marine coming out of me), I enjoyed the novel very much. The whole brotherhood series builds on grade structure and is a conitnuity unto itself of the characters involved. Great reading and you don't want it to end.

The Colonels: Brotherhood of War 04 (Brotherhood of War)6 reviews
W. E. B. Griffin

Jove, 1986

Outstanding book!
I had found this book used, and I read through it. I've known from previous books of his that I have read that he takes military life down to the smallest detail. I'm an active duty US Marine and its refreshing to see him break down the most mundane things in military life down, because I not only find that kind of stuff funny to be broken down the way he does it, but it really helps me ...

The Secret Warriors (Men at War, 2)23 reviews
W. E. B. Griffin

Jove, 1999

Terrific, a real 'page-turner"!
Once again, through the eyes of his fictional characters, W.E.B. Griffin allows the reader to imagine what it must have been like for 'real' people to have lived through experiences like those of Donovan, Canidy et al. I couldn't put this book down!

Behind the Lines: Corps 07 (Corps)37 reviews
W. E. B. Griffin

Jove, 1996

The most entertaining novel I have ever read
This book got me back into reading books after a being severely burned out post college (it took four years to pick-up a book and actually read it and it would have been longer had I not listened to this book on tape.) I can't say enough about "Behind the Lines." After listening to this book I read straight through the series and could not put one of them down while I was reading. In fact, ...

The Last Heroes: A Men at War Novel (Men at War)37 reviews
W. E. B. Griffin

Jove, 1998

The Master!!!!
Griffin is the master of military fiction in my mind and this is another fine example of it!!! I love the characters in his novels. They seem like they are straight out of hollywood casting for some reason. Reading one of his novels is like watching a movie unfold right before your eyes! It is almost like the reader is right there eavesdropping on what is happening! Griffin is just simply an ...
