People of the River17 reviews
W. Michael Gear

Audio Renaissance, 1992

All the books are good
But this one was great. I really got into the action and the quest that was going on and the characters were fantastic. One of my favorites from the series, and I have loved every one of them.

Countermeasures (Forbidden Borders)2 reviews
W. Michael Gear

DAW, 1993

Realistic, gripping SF delving deep into the human condition
Michael Gear's *Forbidden Borders* trilogy concludes with this magnificent book. The trilogy is fast paced; short chapters with no 'filler'. Each section has realistic, necessary action, dialogue, description, or other useful development. A saga spanning worlds, plunging the reader deep into interplanetary culture, the human condition, oh, and realistic SF! Believable faster-than-light travel, ...

People of the Silence (The First North Americans series, Book 8)
I really enjoy this series in my oppion it is best to read the series starting with Book 1 so that you know what is being talked about. If you are a Indian or love to read about Indians and their history then this is a Great Series of Books to read. It gives great in sight to the beliefs of the Indian Nations and their ways of life.

The Morning River12 reviews

Forge, 1996

A wonderful read
In 1825 Richard Hamilton is a wealthy, vain, arrogant foppish young Bostonian, intent upon spending his life as a philosopher, eating well-prepared foods off fine china. He knows everything about humanity and the meaning of life because he's read all the books - and he never hesitates to share his wisdom. Richard's self-made father can't even be near him without losing patience, and decides ...

Forge Books, 2006

People of The Moon
I enjoyed every moment of the reading of this book. I found it interesting and hard to put down until I had completed it . I have read all of the First American Series by the Gears and will continue to do so as soon as the new ones come out in paper back . The whole series is well worth the price for anyone interested in thier interpretation of how the first native peoples in the Amerca's loved ...

One of their best.
This is one of their best novels, a gripping mystery with lots of character development. A very swift read.

Bone Walker (Anasazi Mysteries)18 reviews
Kathleen O'Neal Gear, W. Michael Gear

Tandem Library, 2003

Bone Walker
I found myself in agreement with other readers in that the lives and times of Browser and Catkin are far more interesting than Dusty and Maureen's pathetic F'ed up 20th century existences. So, to get an expansive uninterrupted narrative simply skip the chapters pertaining to Dusty's unresolved childhood issues. That would be every other chapter if you're keeping score.

Dark Inheritance1 review
W. Michael; Gear, Kathleen O'Neal Gear

Warner Books Inc, 2002

Another Fantastic Book
This book, like Raising Abel deals with genetics but at the same time so much more. I don't want to reveal too much, there is danger, exciting can't stop reading moments, and great characters plus a plot line that really makes you think.

People of the Lakes (First North Americans)39 reviews
W.Michael Gear, Kathleen O'Neal Gear

Tor, 1995

Great Northern Series
I have purchased the entire set of these books from Amazon. They were all delivered in great condition, not to mention how exciting it is to read about the "olden" days and how life was lived before trains, planes, automobiles, stupid music and electricity!!! WHAT????..No washer?..Go to the river! No dryer?..Wait for the sun to shine!...No toilet paper?..use your own imagination on that one! And ...

People of the Owl (Detective Series)22 reviews
Kathleen O'Neal Gear, W. Michael Gear

Books on Tape, 2003

Some books better than others...
...but really the whole series is fantastic. Again historical evidence and study went into forming the characters, with great success. The authors do a fabulous job painting a picture of what life was like and what was going on during the setting of the book. Can't wait until the next one.

People of the Nightland (First North Americans)14 reviews

Prehistoric writings are not pure fiction
The hard work and research that Michael & Kathleen go through to write these books not only bring history to life, but also the pleasure of reading back

People of the Earth14 reviews
W.Michael Gear, Kathleen O'Neal Gear

Tor, 1994

This is the best I have yet to see from the Gears...
I read the first two and even though i thought they were just about exactly alike I still read the third. Mainly because I thought that no way could the Gears end all of their many books the same way plus i had already bought it. I was definitly impressed with this book. The same theory was the basis for the book and intertwined with the other books very well. In this book the characters were ...

HOLD OFF READING THIS UNTIL YOU READ BELOW
THIS THE FIRST OF A WONDERFUL TRILOGY FULL OF WELL-RESEARCHED HISTORY, ANCIENT AND MODERN SOUTHWESTERN INDIAN MYSTICISM (A POINT LIKELY MISSED BY THOSE WHO WROTE THE CRITICISMS IN THEIR REVIEWS), MULTI-SUBPLOT MYSTERY, ROMANCE, AND A THOUGHT-PROVOKING WARNING FOR OUR "MODERN" SOCIETY, BOTH IN OUR MANAGEMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND OUR TREATMENT OF OUR CHILDREN. MY WIFE AND I BOTH READ THE ...

Raising Abel16 reviews
W. Michael Gear, Kathleen O'Neal Gear

Grand Central Publishing, 2003

Review of Raising Abel by Michael Gear
While this book is a work of fiction, Gear keeps just enough fact running throughout to make it believable, very believable. His characters act and react just like people we all know, love, and hate, and they remain true to character, behaving just as we would expect them to. When readers are finished reading this book, they will have a lot to think about.

Coyote Summer14 reviews
W. Michael Gear

Forge, 1997

Boxed sets-The Morning River and Coyote Summer should be bound as one.
Buffalo for the Broken Heart: Restoring Life to a Black Hills RanchCoyote Summer is great fiction as is the first book The Morning River. If you like them you'll like "Buffalo..." and they arn't going to be on the same shelf until you get them home. Then plan on having one of the three missing all the time, loaned out to close friends,or in your own reading stack for the second or third time. ...

People of the Masks (The First North Americans, Book 10)
I've loved everything I've read by the Gears and I've read just about everything they have published. Wonderful interposing of fiction onto the facts! They use their expertise as anthropologists and as story tellers to combine what really has been found about North American Indians and interpose a very believable story onto it. They really make the past come alive! The inclusion of what has ...

Long Ride Home6 reviews
W. Michael Gear

Tor Books, 1991

Spellbinding non-typical western.
This book's first edition was in November 1988. I have read this same novel at least four times. Once you start reading, you can't put it down. If you love westerns, you must read this one.

Dark Inheritance: A Suspenseful Tale of Intrigue
Even though the technological terminology makes this book challenging, I found Dark Inheritance by W. Michael Gear and Kathleen O'Neal Gear to be an excellent read. Never before have I found myself so completely engrossed in a book. Reading Dark Inheritance was a heart-pounding thrill ride with suspense and surprise at every twist and turn of the author's journey. Jim Dutton and his two ...
