Sir Cumference and the Isle of Immeter (Math Adventures) 5 reviews Cindy Neuschwander
Charlesbridge Publishing, 2006
Fun and educational My nine-year-old loved the earlier books in the Sir Cumference series, and was excited to hear that a new one was available. He enjoyed it thoroughly, for both the story and the math content. This series of books ranks near the top of his favorites list.

Cut Down to Size at High Noon: A Math Adventure 2 reviews Scott Sundby

Perfect for scale factor lessons! This book works great for my 7th and 8th grade classes. The kids love the story and it was the perfect first time for them to practice scale factor.

Sir Cumference and the Sword in the Cone: A Math Adventure 3 reviews Cindy Neuschwander, Wayne Geehan
Charlesbridge Publishing, 2003
Fun escapades teach geometry painlessly! Some years ago, we stumbled upon these books at the library. They were an instant hit - every single one in the Sir Cumference series! We check out lots of books but this one the children remembered. In fact, we hadn't checked these out for a couple of years when one son started a new geometry section in math and asked me to get these again so he could review! My preschooler thinks of these as ...

Sir Cumference and the Great Knight of Angleland 6 reviews Cindy Neuschwander, 2001
A great learning tool I used this book to introduce the concept of angles to my class. They loved every bit of listening to this book and have kept the ideas of "mountains of obtuse" and "cute quaint" town when identifying angles.

Journey to the Center of the Earth (Troll Illustrated Classics) 128 reviews Jules Verne, Raymond James
Troll Communications, 1990
Recommended as a faithful translation If you are looking for a English translation of JTTCOTE that is faithful to Verne's French one, this one (and a couple others) has been recommended to me by members of the North American Jules Verne Society ([...]). Verne has been poorly translated since the novels were first published and he has received unfair reviews based on those poor translations. I think we owe it to this brilliant man to ...

Sir Cumference and the First Round Table: A Math Adventure 18 reviews Cindy Neuschwander
Charlesbridge Publishing, 1999
Great Way Of Sneaking In Math! My daughter has always had a problem learning Math but reading this book (along with the others in this series) has helped her immensely! The books themselves are a bit young for her but the concepts in them (Pi, Geometry, etc) are explained in a way I think she needed.
I would recommend these to anyone who has a child with problems in math concepts.

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (Troll Illustrated Classics) 185 reviews Raymond James, Jules Verne
Troll Communications, 1990
Wow I read this book many years ago and still have the book. This is a thought-provoking book, and I can honestly say that it's one of the best books that I have ever read in my whole life. There is much to be thought about in this book, and I intend to reread this book so I can appreciate it all over again. Truly, this book is one of these classics that must be preserved always, for the wonderful ...

We BOTH love this book! When the child loves the story, and the Mom loves the math lesson, you know you've got a winner! I highly recommend this book for elementary age students learning multiplication!

Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi 12 reviews Cindy Neuschwander; Wayne Geehan
Charlesbridge Publishing, 2004
A wonderful way to remember pi I feel the age range given on the website should not be ages 4-8. This is appropriate for 8 and up. That said, my 5 year old enjoys it as just a fairy tale and I would not attempt any "teaching" to him. He listens as I read it to my older daughters and maybe it will seep in so when he's old enough to begin measuring, he will easily grasp the concepts.
This is a wonderful book - good ...

Men of Iron (Troll Illustrated Classics) 22 reviews Earle Hitchner, Howard Pyle
Troll Communications, 1990
A great book for boys. This is a book I first read in the ninth grade but is easily read by any good reader 5th grade up. An Adventure about a young boy taken from his family at a young age who learns to do what is right , to stand up against bullies , to organise others in a right cause. We follow him to young manhood and the righting of a terrible injustice. Boys will love it. Makes you want to make a shield and ...
