Merriam-Webster

Merriam-Webster, 2003

The Best on the Market
Nobody puts out a better dictionary than Merriam-Webster. The Collegiate is my pick because one of my hobbies is the Over-50 Spelling Bee, and this dictionary is the reference source for that competition. The Elementary edition is what I use in my classroom. The Unabridged is what I subscribe to on the Web. I wouldn't buy any other company's dictionary because this book and its publisher can ...

Barack H. Obama: The Unauthorized Biography2 reviews
Webster Griffin Tarpley

Progressive Press, 2008

Exposing Obama's Shadow Show
Judging a book by its cover might be a good start in this review of Webster G. Tarpley's book Barack H. Obama: The Unauthorized Biography. The fine cartoon by Tarpley & Azar is no mere metaphor, for it correctly depicts the fact that the `chosen one', Obama, has successfully destroyed the essence of the Democratic Party towards the people of this country as exemplified by the mission of FDR and ...

Webster's Spanish-English Dictionary for Students4 reviews

Federal Street Press, 2003

My go-to book for Spanish definitions and translation
I have 5 or 6 Spanish dictionaries and this has become #1. It has the most words for everyday usage and it is easy to tote around. I was tired of not finding the word I was looking for in the other dictionaries, and that's how this one became my favorite (it usually had the word I was looking for). Just for kicks, if anyone wants the most heavy-duty Spanish dictionary try Harper Collins ...

Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, 11th Edition (Red Kivar Binding with Jacket)79 reviews
Merriam-Webster

Merriam-Webster, 2003

Merriam Websters Collegiate Dictionary
It pays to buy the 'real thing' and not paperbacks and school district and college 'throw aways' whose versions of the English langage were okay fifty years ago but, not now? Amazon has it for more than a affordable price and the finished product will last till you've forgotten how to read?

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary of Synonyms and Antonyms (Dictionary)11 reviews

Merriam-Webster, 1994

Handy Book for Vocabulary Reference
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary of Synonyms and Antonyms is an interesting research - and I dare to say: entertaining - resource. Because, contrary to what some might think, this is not a thesaurus, but a book which groups words of similar meanings into a topic and explains in a very didactic way and with examples what distinguishes in nuance one from each other so you can use the most appropriate ...

Merriam-Webster's Pocket Spanish-English Dictionary (Pocket Reference Library)6 reviews
Merriam-Webster

Merriam-Webster, 2002

Very good for my purposes
I am astounded at the review that is listed below me. Talk about nit-picking! This is the only pocket dictionary that is sturdy enough to carry around in your pocket without falling apart in days. The Oxford dictionary is held together with cheap glue. This is just fine for my purposes. If I need to look up an obscure word I just wait until I get home to my bigger dictionary.

Quick Reference book for some of the medical terminology and definitions. It was recommended by my EMS class. Light weight and easier to carry around then one of those encyclopedia dictionaries.

Im just another guy who bought this for the game. I use these techniques not only to impress but to weed out the ones that arent worth getting in your life. Merriam-Webster's Intermediate Dictionary3 reviews
Merriam-Webster

Merriam-Webster, 2004

Not Only For High Schoolers
This was a required purchase at my son's private school. He is in 5th grade, and this dictionary has proven to be a very valuable resource. The definitions are clear and concise. This dictionary is one that can grow along with him, instead of rebuying the next age appropriate resource. I expect that he will continue to use it for many years.

Webster's French-English Dictionary6 reviews

Federal Street Press, 2004

Happy Consumer
I ordered the dictionary for my Beginning French II through Intermediate French II classes, and so far I am very pleased with what I've been able to find in it. The dictionary has both the French-English and Anglais-Francais translations. It's very helpful. Every word that I've looked up has been in there, along with several variations of the word that could be useful.

Obama - The Postmodern Coup38 reviews
Webster Griffin Tarpley

Progressive Press, 2008

Great Expose on a Charlatan and Fraud.
When Obama first ran for president I was a bit excited. Being a libertarian I hoped he would actually end the disastrous war in Iraq but when I did some sniffing around and research I found out it was all talk. Something troubled me, I didn't like the almost brainwashed mentality of his supporters, nor did I like his plans for a Stassi like agency in the US, coupled with his dealings with a noted ...

Lost in Austen: Create Your Own Jane Austen Adventure14 reviews
Emma Campbell Webster

Riverhead Trade, 2007

Great diversion!
I ordered this book because I wanted to get free shipping, and I was missing a couple dollars. To my surprise and delight, this turned out to be a very fun read! The diversions from the main plot are very ingenious, and you'll recognize many of Jane Austen's works. Totally worth getting.
