This book deals with the arts of the pre-Columbian civilizations of the Andes and with related arts from the adjacent Amazon region and southern Central America. Objects from the two latter areas are included only when they seem more closely tied to Andean influences than to Caribbean, Mayan or Mexican as the case may be.
