Ten Little Ballerinas (Jewel Sticker Stories)3 reviews
Wendy Cheyette Lewison

Grosset & Dunlap, 1996

Fun stuff--great for travel
This is a great book to reinforce some math and logic skills. Mostly it's fun for girly girls. The stickers are the shiny jewel kind and are not reusable. The ballerinas are cute. We buy sticker books for every car and plane trip we take and they make the trips so much more bearable.

Buzz Said the Bee (Hello Reader, Level 1)6 reviews
Wendy Cheyette Lewison

Cartwheel, 1992

PERFECT First Reader
This was my sons first "I read it all by my self" book. He made me read this everyday over and over until he could imitate me then eventually read it himself. The wording is such that you dont tire of re-reading to your child and it is a quick read so you dont mind re-reading 100x a day. I had my son sign this book and date it (his 6th b-day) for my memory trunk and had such fond memories of ...

The Littlest Mermaid (Jewel Sticker Stories)3 reviews
Wendy Cheyette Lewison

Grosset & Dunlap, 1997

Super cute, enjoyable - GREAT for PLANE trip!
Our 4.5 year old daughter is reading but this book still held her interest well. She very much enjoyed both the story and deciding which sticker(s) to place on which pages. It was excellent entertainment value for the price - especially for our recent 3.5 hour plane trip.

F Is For Flag (Reading Railroad Books)
Wendy Cheyette Lewison

Grosset & Dunlap, 2002

June 14 is Flag Day, but with so many American flags proudly displayed, every day seems like Flag Day. Perfect for reading together with a young child, F Is for Flag shows in simple terms how one flag can mean many things: a symbol of unity, a sign of welcome, and a reminder that-in good times and in bad-everyone in our country is part of one great big family. Illustrated by Barbara Duke

Raindrop, Plop!7 reviews
Wendy Cheyette Lewison

Viking Juvenile, 2004

An excellent book
The State of Tennessee sends a book each month to every young child in the state who is signed up for the program. This book was the selection for, I think, December 2006. Of the several dozen books on my 17-month-old's bookshelf, this is one of three he routinely picks out to be read to him before bedtime. It is beautifully illustrated, and a pleasure to read aloud, even for someone who doesn't ...

The Princess and the Potty (Stories to Go!)38 reviews
Wendy Cheyette Lewison

Aladdin, 2005

Perfect Potty story for all Princesses
I bought this just because it was a cheap book with a story about going potty. I was not expecting to find a treasure, the story is fun and really gave my 2.5 year old something to talk about and think about with going potty. She loves us (my husband and I) reading this story to her. We often read it to her while she is on the potty. I've put it on my list to give to all my nieces when they ...

Wendy Cheyette Lewison

Viking Juvenile, 2006

What makes two? All sorts of things. A bicycle?s wheels, A bluebird?s wings. But twins, as you can plainly see, Are just as two as two can be! For toddler twins?and all their friends?here?s a picture book celebration of the joys of "two-ness." Simple jaunty rhymes are paired with watercolor illustrations that have so much verve, they almost look like they?ll bounce off the page.

Peekaboo! I See You! (Sesame Beginnings)10 reviews
Wendy Cheyette Lewison

Random House Books for Young Readers, 2002

Another Great Book in a Great Series
My 6 month old son enjoys this book. One evening, before bed, my husband called me into the room to show me that my son was pulling down the characters' hands to see their eyes! He enjoys Peek-a-boo with us, but I was really surprized to see him interact with the book like this. Of course he needs help to let go of the hands and not rip them, but I think I can say with certainty that he likes ...

I Wear My Tutu Everywhere! (Reading Railroad Books)8 reviews
Wendy Cheyette Lewison

Grosset & Dunlap, 1996

A perfect book for your tutu wearing pre-schooler!
We first purchased this book a few years ago when our oldest daughter was about 3 1/2 years old and she would wear a tutu EVERY day to school, shopping, etc. She often looked "silly" (just like Tilly in the book) but she was happy and she loved the idea of being a ballerina. This book perfectly captured the intensity of her desire to dress how she wanted. It really was a precious time in her ...

Princess Buttercup: A Flower Princess Story (All Aboard Reading)2 reviews

Grosset & Dunlap, 2001

Wonderful book for young readers
My daughter loved this book! It has precious pictures and a nice story line. It doesn't feel contrived like many of the early readers do. My 3 year old daughter enjoyed listening to her big sister read this story. The story is about a flower fairy (Princess Buttercup) who follows a butterfly and ends up getting lost. The butterfly gives her a ride back home, just in time for a party the princess ...

Don't Wake the Baby! (All Aboard Reading)3 reviews
Wendy Cheyette Lewison

Grosset & Dunlap, 1996

I like the series
My daughter loves this series. She is so proud about being able to read these books "all by herself." I would give this book 5 stars, but as a breastfeeding mother, I was disappointed that this book, like most of the books we have gotten about "big sisters" teaches that bottle feeding is the norm.

The Velveteen Rabbit board book101 reviews
Wendy Cheyette Lewison

Grosset & Dunlap, 1998

"Restored by that Refining Fire"
"The Velveteen Rabbit" is a parable, a story about that refining fire: redemptive love. The Velveteen Rabbit gave himself in love to the little boy. In return, the little boy loved the rabbit completely. This love caused the rabbit to begin to look around and question what was real. In questioning what was real, the rabbit ultimately believes himself real and wishes himself real. Once real, ...

A Trip to the Firehouse (Reading Railroad)2 reviews
Wendy Cheyette Lewison

Grosset & Dunlap, 1998

Good Coverage of Fire Apperatus.
I am a volunteer in public education for a large fire department and am always looking for books to read to children. This book has a very interesting approach. Real full color pictures of a class trip to the fire station are used to illustrate the story. This book thoroughly covers the fire department, including the dispatch center. It also shows pictures of a wide variety of fire apperatus. ...

Clang-Clang! Bang-Bang! (Sesame Beginnings)2 reviews
Wendy Cheyette Lewison

Random House Books for Young Readers, 2003

A simple, delightful book for baby and toddler!
Clang clang! Bang bang! Peep peep! Beep beep! Sorry, I have this one memorized! It's an adorable, sweet story featuring baby Sesame characters demonstrating different sounds. The book also has a little rattle built in to it. It's an odd thing, because it really looks like a button and babies/toddlers tend to poke at it, and the book is too big for a baby to hold on his/her own and shake...but, ...

Great pictures and simple discussions about the new baby including: the baby in mommy's tummy, how I can help, when I feel left out, and how much fun baby can be.

With an Arts background, I view Juan Wijngaard as one of the very best Children's Book Illustrators. He has a masterful way to use color in order to create the feel and imagery of light.

The Big Snowball (All Aboard Reading)1 review
Wendy Cheyette Lewison

Grosset & Dunlap, 2000

a great book for preschoolers
This is another in this series of books where pictures are incorporated into the text so that the child can "help" to read the story. It is a really cute story with excellent illustrations and the book has a fun ending. Kids really like this book.
