I'll Be Your Mirror2 reviews

Scalo Publishers, 1996

Nan Goldin, a retrospective of brilliance
Goldin is the one of the most talented and prolific photographers of the 90's. Her work, which is based mainly on friends and lovers, is painful and delicate, striking a nerve in anyone who looks. It shows the beauty and horror of everyday life, sometimes bringing a tear to your eye. This book is worth every dollar.

The Story of the Little Mole Who Went in Search of Whodunit Mini Edition3 reviews
Werner Holzwarth, Wolf Erlbruch

Abrams Image, 2007

This is the FUNNIEST BOOK!
I first read this book ten years ago when someone brought it in to work. I laughed so hard I couldn't stop! Then I tried to find it everywhere, bookstores, kids stores, online stores, you name it. Part of the difficulty was remembering its name. I would do an Amazon search from time to time but could never find it. So it was for several years. Now I have a little 1 year old and decided to ...

The Story of the Little Mole Who Knew it Was None of His Business6 reviews
Werner Holzwarth

Chrysalis Children's Books, 2001

Classic child-focused humor
I first encountered this book when I took a Children's Literature course in college. A bestseller in Germany, it had been banned in the United States because of its subject matter, so our professor had to show us the original German book and translate it for us. After our initial shock wore off, it had our entire class of English majors in stitches! Basically, someone or something poops on ...

De la petite taupe qui voulait savoir qui lui avait fait sur la tête3 reviews
Werner Holzwarth, Wolf Erlbruch

Milan, 1993

GREAT
Unlike the previous reviewer, I was familiar with the book when I bought it and IT IS GREAT! (recommended to me by a pediatrician friend) The drawings are well done and the story is funny and cute, with just enough 'poopoo' and 'caca' to appeal to your average 2-4 year-old. I have given the book to my nephews and several friends with small children and they all love it!

The Story of the Little Mole Who Went in Search of Whodunit27 reviews

Abrams Books for Young Readers, 2007

Not as good in English
I've had this book in Korean for quite some time now. I would routinely translate it for my friends to their great amusement. The Korean version is much more frank in the subject matter, though. The title is literally "Who pooped on my head?" with numerous explicit jokes as to the material at hand. When I saw the English title of "The Story of the Little Mole who went in Search of Whodunit" ...

Christopher Wool

TASCHEN America Llc, 2008

Covering all work phases in large-scale reproductions and accompanied by extensive texts as well as production Polaroids and installation photos by Wool himself. Limited to 1,000 copies, each numbered and signed by the artist. In-your-face, achingly simple, deceptively frank, the work of Christopher Wool is so very New York. Though he owes a debt to abstract expressionism and pop art, he completely transcends even demolishes these genres. ...

The Story of the Little Mole Who Knew It Was None of His Business: Plop-up Edition!2 reviews
Werner Holzwarth, Wolf Erlbruch

Anova Books, 2008

Cute story - pop-ups don't work
I saw this book in the bookstore, and was (almost) enraptured. It's a kinda disgusting, more than a little weird book about a mole who needs to know who pooed on his head, and so goes about asking other animals to poo for him so he can compare. Perfect for the potty-humor set. Buuuut - the pop-ups were very difficult to manipulate, and some of them didn't work at all. This was in a brand-new, ...
