Twisters are tornadoes. I learned about them in the book Twisters by Will Osborne. Twisters wreak everything. Twisters can destroy homes because the winds go 300 miles per hour. They hit in the midwestern U.S. in April, May and June. I feel excited about this book because it's good to know about natural disasters so if it happens you'll be prepared.

Our girls read this after a trip to the Amazon, and found lots that they recognized & enjoyed. The standard of information is rather higher than that in the Magic Tree house books, which is reasonable, given that they don't have to worry about plot & characters as well! I personally far prefer the non-fiction companions to the Magic Tree House Books. The Magic Tree House books don't seem to have a lot of "meat" to them and aren't very interesting to me or many of my (...) grade students. I used to have this book when I was 8. It was my favorite. My favorite story was the 2nd story. I have alway been facinated by ghosts, and this book certainly kept me up at night reading. I would like to own this book again, and I hope that whoever does own it enjoys it as much as I did.
