Great read
Even though I needed this book for a class it was very interesting. Glad that my instructor chose it.It does not focus on one group of people, it shares information about a large number of various cultures across the world.

The Essence of Anthropology does a great job of taking a very readable and approachable tone. Unfortunately, the authors sling their biases everywhere, making a big mess all over the text. Insightful and not at all preaching.
I couldn't disagree more with the previous reviewer and felt the need to add my review to explain the absurdity of theirs. This book is very insighful, interesting, and makes perfect sense. Forensic Buff
I am in the process of taking a course like this and it is helping me. A mind-opening type b ook. A little forensic used in discovery of bones of historical man. Anthropology is the main theme. I only gave it 3 stars because I am waiting to see how the course proceeds.
