The milestone of distillation control design
The book deals with distillation control systems, mainly referring to pneumatic devices; it doesn't matter, the theory is still the same and the reader is more involved in this subject comparing the old pneumatic approach to the newer electronic one. I recommend it for people involved in design, startup and troubleshooting of distillation, absorption, extraction plants.

A Wonderful Debate on the Resurrection
Dr. John Dominic Crossan is the co-chairman of the media darlings known as the Jesus Seminar. Dr. William Craig is (in my opinion) the best Christian apologist of the late 20th century who has specialized his theological research on the historicity of the resurrection of Jesus in 3 major academic books. The give and take of this debate much favored Craig in which he clearly won. Craig argued ...

Excellent book on the history and honor of the Citadel.
If you are interested in learning more about this great institution, this is book for you. I couldn't find a better book that describes the rich history of the Citadel in such detail.

Up From Liberalism
I'm a college student studying on a liberal college campus who will probably pursue a career in Constitutional law. Reading this book has helped me understand my political philosophy much more clearly. Up From Liberalism by William F. Buckley, Jr. is a witty, sagacious, and very perceptive book declaring the fresh conservative alternative to liberal establishment politics. It is a must read ...

Why does it ever have to end??
What will we do when the Buckley clan is gone? First John Wayne, then Ronald Reagan, now the Buckleys, WFB and his sister, Priscilla gradually recede from our consciousness, followed ineluctably in time by Paul Harvey we tearfully conclude. Giants all. This book is to be cherished, as with brother Bill's memoir of last year ("And Miles Gone By"), like a strand of hair from a saint; to be ...

Best of class - Blackford Oakes in Havana
This is the first of Buckley's books that I have read and it was a real treat. This book is so good in a variety of ways that I think it deserves five stars. It is a combination of good story-telling, historical information, compelling characters (including those taken from real life), clear writing, and intrigue. These elements are combined smoothly into a very entertaining and easy to read ...

The alternative are 2 sentences in a history book
My first book by the now-beloved author. I arrived in USA in the 1980's - and was too young to vote for Regan - so this book fills in a chunk of US history I did not have much clue about. It's a collection of dispatches, peppered with sailing adventures and personal interactions. A very enjoyable read... The dispatches from Nixon's trip to Beijing (China) made me laugh - it's amusing how ...

Urbane. Witty. Charming. Genuine.
MILES GONE BY is a compilation of William F. Buckley essays, columns and anecdotes which tell the story of his life. His writings are so prolific that the better parts of his life had already been chronicled, by himself no less, prior to his death. I began reading National Review in 1978 as a young liberal college student. Buckley was my cure for liberalism along with the practical demise of ...

Seize the day...
Eugene Ehrlich's 'Amo, Amas, Amat and More' is a wonderful shorthand guide to Latin literacy for those who are struggling with Latin, or those of us who had a lot of Latin but little use since our last conjugation, er, um, examination. Gives new meaning to 'conjugal visit' now, doesn't it? (Well, look it up for the distinctions.) There is a very interesting introduction by William F. ...

A great project and a very nice book
This was my first project as a ghostwriter (although I was credited as one of the authors) and it was a great experience. Working with with William F. Buckley Jr. was a pleasure! If you live or work in Stamford, you should track down a copy of this magnificent book. The photos by Bill Hubbell are excellent!!!

An Extraordinary Book - Will Enlighten and Challenge Us All
I could not put this book down. The author explores the various sides, themes, and politics of the Balkan crisis. No voice is silenced but all voices are given time to speak. It is fair, accurate, and unbiased in its look at the terrible crimes perpetrated on the Bosnian people. Beautifully written and full of compassionate insights.

A Foundation From The American Political Landscape
The 1960s brought such turbulence to the structure of American politics, but one revolution is difficult to find. In this one book, William F. Buckley, Jr., produced an early blueprint to an emerging conservative movement, which ultimately reached fruition in the 1980 election of Ronald Reagan to the office of president. The importance cannot be emphasized enough that the 1964 nomination by ...

On the Firing Line
On the Firing Line: The Publi Life of Our Public Figures written by William F. Buckley, Jr. is about the interviews Buckley had on the televison show "Firing Line." Lasting for twenty-three years and hosted by Buckley, this book contains parts of those interesting shows. You'll find a whole host of dramatis personae in this well written tome. As with the televison show, this book has concise ...

A Readable Penn
Anyone attempting to read William Penn's works "in his own words" must be ready to struggle with 17th c. archaic language. Buckley does for Penn what Freiday did for Barclay: bring his works into the realm of readability. The result is delightfully fresh and poignantly current, as Penn defends his faith against the calumny of his era's fundamentalists.

Big Fat Conpendium of Buckley's 1960's
I got the paperback edition of this book when in junior high and read it until the binding fell apart. I didn't understand all of it, of course, but I was enthralled by the wit and elan of Buckley's prose. This book is a large compilation of Buckley's writing during the late 1960's. Thus it forms a sort of counter-history of that tumultuous time. Included is the hard-to-find long article "On ...

Fearful Symmetry
As editor of the British humour magazine, Punch, and an inveterate journalist, Malcolm Muggeridge was a familiar face in Britain and to a lesser degree, in America, and often in the camera's eye. He is, however, one of the few journalists to wryly realize the irony of that and to comment endlessly on the absurdities of journalism. What poet William Blake called fearful symmetry he found ...

Requiem for a Heavyweight....
William F. Buckley Jr. is now in his 80's and visibly winding up his affairs of this world. National Review, the magazine of conservative opinion that he founded and led for half a century, has been turned over to newer hands. Blackford Oakes, hero of a series of spy novels, has been heroically killed off. His production of public commentary is down to a few columns per month. 2004's "Miles ...
