Another page turner by William Tapply
William Tapply has written another winner in his Brady Coyne series. All books will stand on their own. I won't give away the plot. (Read the Amazon summary and other reviewers) I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and read it in two sittings. Lots of twists and turns, there are some surprises and some---well you could guess whodunit. Great book for beach, poolside or plane.

Grabs you and wouldn't let go
Reviewed by Ellen Hogan for Reader Views (7/06) Stonewall Jackson Calhoun is a man without a past. He has no recollection of anything that happened in his life before he woke up in a Virginia Hospital. He was told things like where he was born and who his parents were and that he was divorced. But none of that told Stoney what kind of man he was and what he did to make a living. When Stoney ...

A second encounter with Stoney Calhoun
We first met man-of-mystery and Maine fishing guide Stoney Calhoun in [...] CREEK. There we learned that Stoney didn't always live a slow, simple, and rustic life -- but exactly what he'd done before he was zapped by lightning, only the Man in the Suit knows, and he never reveals much during his occasional visits. A Gray Ghost is a Maine salmon streamer, a fly that Stoney ties in the outdoor ...

This man can write
I discovered William Tapply by accident and was delighted to find that he had written about sixteen novels. What a delight it was to catch up. Brady Coyne is a sole legal practitioner with a hand picked clientele. Fishing is his great love and solving murders comes a close second. I'm awaiting Scar Tissue with baited breath.

Author William G Tapply Is One Of My Better Habits
Author Tapply has written a series of books about lawyer and amateur sleuth Brady Coyne. It is difficult to describe the Brady Coyne books except, possibly, to note that they all read like a letter from an old friend. The details of Coyne's comings and goings, his meals, his hobbies, his love interests, and his tracking down of the bad guys...are all told in an engaging style as if he were ...

Brady and JW are back .... AGAIN!
I am sad that Philip Craig passed away last year. Not only do I LOVE all his JW Jackson books, but he and Bill Tapply had a really great set of books started. This is book 3 and, sadly, the final one in this short series. But, I love and own them all, and can't wait for Phil's upcoming JW book to be published this June. Thank you Phil and Bill, for all the wonderful hours I have spent with your ...

Boston lawyer with a heart
My first Brady Coyne experience was a pleasant surprise. Brady's ex-girlfriend Alex seeks his help for her unfortunate brother Gus. Gus, a photographer injured in Iraq, has returned to the states sans a hand and suffering from a deep depression. His career cannot continue because of his injury and his marriage has fallen apart. Alex wants Brady to help with the divorce, since Gus is unable to ...

Tapply has Trout Eyes for You
The qualities of Bill Tapply's work which jump out are: (1) the craftsmanship of his writing - first class, and (2) the universal themes anglers have grown to know and love. Bill describes settings which transport our minds to the beloved dream-world of casting a dry fly to a large feeding brown trout. And he transports us from our real world of suburban spawl and traffic jams to our favorite ...

A fine Brady Coyne novel
Every Tuesday, Boston lawyer Brady Coyne visits his friend Walt Duffy, once the foremost bird photographer in the country until he too had a bad fall and ended up a paraplegic. Now he lives in his Boston townhouse and spends much of his time bird watching in his garden. He lives with his college age son Ethan and their dog Henry. On Brady's latest visit, Walt asks him to get some letters ...

It's two, two, two mysteries in one
J.W. Jackson and Brady Coyne usually have their own escapades and their own mysteries to solve. But the men are friends and live only a few hours apart from each other, so it seems inevitable that on occasion their paths will cross. Authors Craig and Tapply have led them to do so in "Second Sight." Brady is helping a family friend find his missing daughter. J. W. has agreed to provide ...

"Joe had to act fast to avoid being crushed beneath the turning wheel!"
Granted, this is only the third book in the series, however, I think it is the best thus far! The whole cast is here, Joe and Frank Hardy along with their parents Fenton and Laura (and new introduction of Aunt Gertrude), Friends: Chet, Callie, Iola, and Tony, not to mention regulars: Oscar Smuff and Chief Collig. In this story most characters play a very small role and the adventure mainly ...

Past Tense
"Past Tense" is the 18th Brady Coyne novel by William G. Tapply whom I think is one of the top mystery writers working today. Brady and his girlfriend, Evie Banyon, plan a nice weekend on Cape Cod. While at a restaurant there, Evie spots a former lover, Larry Scott whom Evie thinks is stalking her. She has words with him. The next day, Evie finds the body of Larry Scott who has been murdered. ...

Gun Control Pro & Con
Brady Coyne helps an old friend, outdoorsman Wally Kinnick, with his testimony before a state subcommittee. The issue is assault weapons and whether they should be sold to private parties. Kinnick is a strong anti-gun control advocate, and an offshoot of the NRA called SAFE has paid his expenses. After an all-night session of reading the bill, Kinnick comes to the conclusion that the bill is ...
Gone Fishin': Ruminations on Fly Fishing
William G. Tapply
The Lyons Press
, 2006
Here is longtime fly-fishing writer William G. Tapply on the large and small pleasures of fishing, from fly tying to hunting the big ones. In "Extreme Angling," Tapply dismisses the idea of fly fishing as "the quiet sport," with tales of grizzly attacks, rogue logs, and big water. In "Hexed," he finds out that his local stream - overstocked and overfished - offers a lot more than he ever suspected. In "Paying Homage," he describes the mystical ...

Gives you an insider's view of the political mind.
The mystery of it keeps you in doubt until the very last page, but the best thing about this book is that it gives you an insider's view of what really goes on in a politician's mind.

Tapply crafts his tales with pure art.
Brady Coyne is back--in CUTTER'S RUN--latest in a series Wlliam G.Tapply fans hope will take us through Brady's old age, eons from now. Brady drives a second hand Jeep in this one. He's his usual funny, thoughtful self, in a beautifully drawn Maine setting, where pollution kills, (and nearly gets Brady). CUTTER'S RUN combines superb writing with an entertaining mystery that transcends the ...

First Sentence: Julie keeps telling me I'll never be a proper lawyer if I keep driving out to the suburbs to meet my clients at their homes whenever they request it. Attorney Brady Coyne refers his wealthy client, Roger Falconer, to criminal attorney Paul Cizek. Roger's son, Gary, was arrested in a DUI accident that resulted in the death of a young mother.
