the biker underworld
Avery interesting insight into the goings on of the hell angels. It made me change my mind about the image of them as has been portrayed in the movies.

Julian Sher, William Marsden

Da Capo Press, 2006

Riveting and Dangerous
The Angels of Death is riveting book about the Hells Angels quest for global domination. Reads like a thriller where the most exciting part is about ATF's undercover operation. Well recommended and hard to put down.

The Road to Hell: How the Biker Gangs are Conquering Canada5 reviews
Julian Sher, William Marsden

Seal Books, 2005

Fantastic Read
This is a factual account of the recent development and evolution of biker gangs -- specifically, the Hells Angels -- in Canada. Well-written and brilliantly researched, the authors do an excellent job of providing details about the Hells' infiltration of ports in Halifax, Montreal, and Vancouver, their domination of the illicit drug and porn industries, and their expanding business empire. ...

The Travels of Marco Polo The Venetian1 review
William (translated and edited by)(re-edited by Thomas Wright) Marsden

Doubleday & Company, Inc, 1948

Barely believable adventures.
Marco writes well enough of his travels and you feel that you are there. You can actually follow the trail if you have a map. He describes the flora and fauna of each region and describes the economics and industry of the region. Example: "The women of the superior class are in like manner free from superfluous hairs; their skins are fare, and they are well formed." It is interesting to see ...

Greek and Roman Artillery: Technical Treatises (Oxford University Press Academic Monograph Reprints)2 reviews
Eric William Marsden

Clarendon Press, 1971

Must have for a true siege weapon geek
Marsden really did a fantastic job with this book. It is very technical. He provides the original text on one page then on the next the translation. He also provides a lot end notes with diagrams to explain what the original authors where trying to tell us. Excellent book for those who like the down and dirty mathematics and physics of siege engine building.
