Remarriage after Divorce in Today's Church: 3 Views (Counterpoints: Church Life)3 reviews

Zondervan, 2006

Food for Thought
This is a hot topic in Christanity. This book is good because it presents all the different views in a pure form and allows you to form your own opinion about the matter. If you have an opinion already, don't be tempted to read only the author who agrees with you. Broaden yourself some! You may be right - you may be wrong.

Millennials Rising: The Next Great Generation72 reviews
Neil Howe, William Strauss

Topeka Bindery, 2000

generational understanding
This book along with the book "Generations" and many others written by Neil Howe and William Strauss are some of my favorites. They have changed the way I look at the world. If you want to understand your parents world, or grandparents or children's frame of reference, these books are outstanding. My kids are both Millennials and this author's description fits them totally.

The Fourth Turning74 reviews
William Strauss, Neil Howe

Random House Audio, 1997

From history to prediction
Not only was this book a facinating review of history, but it's breadth was facinating. It's impact is being felt in many areas as I finally read it, because so many places and speakers quote from it. I can only recommend it as they capture certain aspects of where we've been and where we're possibly going, and what we can do about it. It's also helped me make some sense of the growing trends ...

Generations: The History of America's Future, 1584 to 206930 reviews
Neil Howe, William Strauss

Harper Perennial, 1992

This analytical historical model holds up well 16 years later.
I think Strauss and Howe are on to something. Remember we are in the realm of social sciences, and no analytical model is ever 100% correct; if you reach 60% that's good. I think Howe and Strauss cleared this hurdle by a wide margin. I support my opinion on the following considerations. First, based on all the different generations I have met so far the Strauss and Howe model fits well. ...

Sixteen Scandals5 reviews
William Strauss, Elaina Newport

Sourcebooks MediaFusion, 2002

Outlandishly Hilarious
This was a rather frightening, yet hysterical, trip down memory lane. So much has happened in American politics over the past 20 years. What a blessing it is to have the Capitol Steps around as the bards recording the inane antics of our elected representatives. To prove how great this book is, I've bought three copies of it - one for me and two for other friends. They are phenomenal. Here's ...

Practical Nuclear Medicine1 review
Edwin L., M.D. Palmer, James A. Scott, ...

W.B. Saunders Company, 1992

The best view of nuclear medicine(up-to-date),for all!!
I've never reviewd a book before. But i, and many other college's from here in Brazil, have felt that this book gives the best view of nuclear medicine. The language is straight foward and the topics come to us in a very simple, but important matter. This book may be used by nuclear medicine phisicians, but it may easely be read by any other phisicians or technologist's. I just hope that a new ...

13th Gen: Abort, Retry, Ignore, Fail?33 reviews
Neil Howe, William Strauss

Vintage, 1993

I finally understand myself!
After long being accused by writers as being "slackers" and "apathetic," finally a book comes along that explores Generation X in the historical context of being the 13th Generation - an exploration that forces the reader to reconsider their opinion of our misunderstood generation. Mr. Strauss explains that no generation can be defined in a vaccuum. Instead one must understand the preceeding ...

Disappearing Architecture: From Real to Virtual to Quantum
Aaron Betsky, Ole Bouman, ...

Birkhäuser Basel, 2005

The creation of new environments through the use of developments in Information Technology is significantly altering not only architecture itself but also the roles and tasks of the architects. Architecture can no longer be described in the terms we are familiar with since it no longer corresponds to the form of architecture as we know it: an inclusive and exclusive structure, clearly defined, with a single interior and a single exterior. For ...

DW 2.0: The Architecture for the Next Generation of Data Warehousing (Morgan Kaufman Series in Data ...1 review
William H. Inmon, Derek Strauss, ...

Morgan Kaufmann, 2008

DW reloaded??
First of all, this book is not written with the DW novice in mind. Some of the chapters require a thorough understanding of DW theory and concepts. Generally I found the book useful and I got some ideas that I will apply in one of my next projects. The biggest weakness of DW 2.0 is its lack in detail. In a lot of areas I found the book to be patchy and too high level. In my opinion DW 2.0 as ...
