The Best Coffee Table Book
This is the best coffee table book I have seen. It captures the interest of all ages and intelects. But there is a message too, we must take care of our planet. !!!

An Eyeful of African Beauty!
This book is packed with stunning shots of aerial views of the countryside, the wildlife parks, the mountains, (e.g. the Mt Longonot crater) and the lakes & islands. Even for one like me who was born and bred in Kenya, the clarity, angle and panoramic view of the shots is simply stunning and taught me that there is amazing beauty all around me...I'm just not tall enough to see it all!

An incredible book
This book is absolutely amazing!!! The way it covers such complexity in such simple terms - with information that our children's generation MUST know - this is a must read (for both children and adults). My middle school science students are mesmerized by this book year after year, and it has lead them over and over to service learning projects. This book is definitely worth reading and owning.

A must have for Disney fans
Forget every article you've read about Euro Disney's dire financial problems. For true Disney fans, this European park may well be the most beautiful, the best crafted, the most artistic Magic Kingdom Disney has ever built (and will probably build since they prefer to do it cheaply now). Several years in the making, this coffee table book is truly a work of love. Lavishly illustrated, it offers ...

Thought-provoking beauty
I, too, saw an outdoor exhibition of the photos from this book and also could not resist buying it, even though I had to lug it all the way from Vienna around Austria and then back to San Francisco! But it was worth it! I think is more interesting than the "Earth from Above" series, since the images are unusual and all come with a detailed explanation of the cultural or ecological meaning they ...

Not just another coffee table book!
If you regard this book as just another coffee table book you aren't even half right. This is one of the best photo books I have ever seen. The pictures are outstanding. Nearly every photo takes you to the alter of the church, the edge of the cliff, or the gate to the castle. Not only is it a photo book, but a great travel book. These aren't just descriptions of what to see, but beautiful ...

Absolutely mind-bogglingly beautiful photos
I have never in my life seen such absolutely incredible photos. If you want to see Greece at its absolute best, nothing else can compare. There are a number of photos here that by themselves are worth the price of the book. I can never recall having a book that is as captivating the 100th time I look through it as the first time. The picture of the fisherman in his boat seemingly floating on ...

not up to par with 365 days
Perhaps I am slightly biased, being not only an adult, but I read the original 365 days edition first. I am always on the lookout for children oriented books that help teach geography and anthropology, so naturally I jumped towards this one. While the book takes on the nice perspective of Yann Arthus-Bertrand's grandson, who explains what his grandfather does and what aerial photography is, there ...

The theme of this book is man's impact on the planet and the life-or-death need for sustainable development. The introduction is a mix of statistics and a call to action, while each month is prefaced with text on some aspect of our planet's characteristics and condition (April: Biodiversity--A Condition of Survival; August: Renewable Energy; December: Free Trade, Unfair Competition, and Equitable ...

Good Starting Book for New York
I bought this book because of my adoration for the City of New York, and the beautiful picture on the front. Those looking for an in-depth history of NYC or more of a "hands-on" book, should look elsewhere. This book provides what the title suggests. It is a brief introduction to the vast world that is New York City. The photography is beautiful, although sometimes blurry at edges. There are ...

I never tire of looking at this book
I'm not from a rural background, nor do I have any experience of animal husbandry, nor do I even have much interest in photography, but when I first saw this book in a store it simply drew me in. Inside you will find page after page of superbly composed, full-colour photographs of various livestock breeds pictured with owners, owners' children or handlers from all over Europe, even some from as ...

Wonderful -- like Jack said -- but not sooo "short"
I am writing mostly in response to the comments from Dr J E Robinson (Jack in Toronto). I share Jack's general appraisal that this is a "wonderful" book and "the photos are stunning." However, I felt that Jack's references to the book's size/length ("short book...not big....all too short") might unduly discourage potential buyers. This is a magnificent book, over-sized, with many double-paged, ...

My husband and I love this book. We look at it every day. The text may be depressing, but it's a wake-up call to the destruction of beautiful areas like the ones depicted. The pictures are absolutely stunning and you will be astounded that there are such places in the world.

Incredible Retrospective
Any photographer lucky enough to have a retrospective of their life's work created with the quality put into this book and accompanying DVD would have to be happy. This is a wonderful volume of extraordinary photographs and excellent text. Being a Photographer traces the life and photographs of Yann Arthus-Bertrand, a French photographer who spent years in Africa as a young man. It was from there ...

beautiful beyond compare!!!
Do you like Munnings? Do you like Stubbs paintings? Then you will adore this book. The photos, taken around the world, are taken against a broad long well lit canvas. Some of the photos show the horses and riders or owners standing against the canvas behind which are snow-capped mountains or long low plains. It is an uplifting book. It will make you happy. The lighting is varied giving ...

cats are on their own....
Yann Arthus-Bertrand is an excellent photographer, known for a unique series "Earth from above" as well as for books dedicated to dogs and horses. I bought "Cats" because I am owned by a cat and also because my mother owns another book by Arthus-Bertrand "Dogs". Both books are designed on a similar plan, namely numerous breeds are presented with a brief description, informative and fun, next to a ...
