Conceptually very good, Methodology too
This is my first book about this matter. Although I have some experience implementing solution with HA/DR requirements, this book was very clarifier. Topics are conceptually clear and also this proposes a good methodology to face HA/DR requirements. You will get some technical details about components that allow implement HA/DR, however it is not in deep. Don't think you will get a comercial ...

Great Book On HA
I like this book. It does not go into details but gives you at least the basic you need to deploy quickly RAC, DG, Flashback, and Streams. The author also spent time defining HA from the DBA point of view. Overall, I recommend this book and gives 5 stars

excellent
I would like to pass this out at every Le leche league meeting in the country. unlike the pop psychology "AP" out there which ranges from the guilt inducing to the dangerous, this is the real thing on how to build a relationship with your child. it is a very sad state of affairs that people looking for real outside input on ways to do better than their own parents can only choose between pseudo ...

Not Great
I was desperate for a book on windows clustering so this one looked pretty good. The first part deals with concepts and it is pretty good. The second part shows how to build the cluster and if you are into file&print, then it really stinks. There is barely anything but screenshots of the wizard.

Even better than the first edition!
I bought the first edition of this book, and it became so dog-eared from everyone borrowing it that I was about to order another, when I saw there was a secodn edition. This one is even better that the first. If you need action items and you need set-up help for providing the kind of network your boss wants and needs, this is the book for you.

Important addition to any network library
Like any book on availability this one addresses a number of interrelated topics - service level management, capacity and performance management, and specific techniques for achieving high availability. I like this book because it introduces proven engineering techniques in the first five chapters, beginning with a discussion of availability and building upon this foundation with necessary math, ...

An excellent summary of building carrier-grade software
Whenever you pick up a phone handset you expect to hear dialtone, don't you? The fact that you expect the phone network to work whenever you want to make a call is thanks to an amazing amount of work behind the scenes. The software that controls the phone networks of the world is known as "carrier-grade" software - software so reliable that total outage time must be less than six minutes a year. ...

In many cases, failure intervals must now be ...

Freeman the man!
I've been using Freeman's books for OCP upgrades in the past and they were good. This time he hasn't written an OCP book, I still got this one hoping to use it as a supplemental training material. Let's make it clear - it is not an OCP upgrade guide! It doesn't provide any practice questions and doesn't follow the test objectives closely enough. But as a new features overview this book is ...

Another building block in the Enterprise Computing Series
You cannot judge a book by its cover in most cases. This book's cover, however, subtly provides clues about what's inside. The picture is a panoramic view of Hong Kong taken from Victoria Peak. It accurately portrays the book, which is a high-level view of a wide number of topics related to high availability. If you are expecting nuts-and-bolts technical information, then you are better off ...

HA The Microsoft Way
In the early days of PC's no one thought much about trying to keep up a system 24x7x365. The hardware wouldn't do it, the software wouldn't do it, and for a system that was primarily something you used for personal use on your desktop it really didn't matter much. You probably turned it off each evening anyway. But those times have changed. The modern PC is a PC in name only. Put in a couple ...
