Llama, Llama Red Pajama 111 reviews
Viking Juvenile, 2005
We are all sleeping again! Out of nowhere, my 2 year old started having trouble going to sleep and also waking up during the night. He cried and didn't want us to leave his room. I borrowed a bunch of bedtime stories from the library dealing with going to sleep and being afraid of the dark. We have read "Llama, Llama" every night for about a week now and his fears have subsided. I really think he has identified with the ...

Red Wagon Books, 1997
Wonderful, wonderful book! This is absolutely a lovely book. The illustrations are soothing for bedtime, and the rhythmic story makes for a perfect bedtime story. I have been reading this to my son since he was born, and he still loves it at 3 years old. Great bonding experience with this wonderful story.

You Are My I Love You 106 reviews Maryann Cusimano
Philomel, 2001
not just about parent/child love... I bought this book several years ago when Daniel Pinkwater reviewed it on Public Radio. It perfectly describes a relationship between parent and child, where the parent is the stable rock the child craves, the child the ingenuous spirit the adult has lost.
I don't see it as being limited to adults and children. I have many of the same feelings about some of my adult friends.
I do agree with ...

Great A wonderful book with great illustrations, and the brushing teeth of course is a bonus, anything to get a child to do so is always welcome.
A good bedtime story.

Barnyard Dance 151 reviews Sandra Boynton
Workman Publishing, 2008
Stomp your feet!!! What a treat to buy this for a friend's baby. My youngest child LOVED this book because as others have pointed out, it is fantastic! Just reading the words results in a great rhyme and makes you dance. You can't help it. Babies love it, toddlers love it, and parents love to read it, even the 4,999th time. It makes everyone smile. We wore the cover off and had to buy multiple copies. What a great ...

Jamberry 98 reviews
HarperCollins, 1983
A favorite classic! This book was a favorite with our first child 10 years ago, and we just bought another copy for our 1-yr.-old! I love the flowing, rhyming prose, and the illustrations allow for so much discussion and interaction. As with Dr. Suess books, I find myself repeating the words throughout the day (like when we're eating berries!) I definitely recommend this book!

My son's favorite board book Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1TTRY7U6R935X In this video I take you through this classic children's book by reading you this short story much the same way I did for my son. He loved this book so much that we bought two so we always had a backup. I read it so many times I knew it by heart. You can't read this book without expressing delight because the story is so charming and ...

Good Night Gorilla Gift Box 164 reviews
Putnam Juvenile, 2003
Perfect Book for Bedtime Goodnight Gorilla is a perfect bedtime book or for those young children just learning to read. The book has colorful illustrations and repetitive phrases that make it easy for young ones to understand and follow along.
Goodnight Gorilla follows a zoo keeper as he says goodnight to all the animals. The gorilla swipes his keys and lets all the animals out, which of course, follow the zoo keeper ...

Charming, fun book! My daughter loves this book (22 months old) and my husband and I enjoy the sing-song rhyme as well. It has a nice rhythm for reading aloud. We don't mind reading it over and over! The illustrations are great also.

Go, Dog. Go! 85 reviews P. D. Eastman
Infinity Plus One, 2000
Allô. Do you like my hat? This is my favorite book of all time. I can't recommend it highly enough. If the "dog party in the trees" doesn't capture your imagination, I don't know what will. For the last forty years or so, I have been looking -- and I mean this literally, not figuratively -- for said party. That's a bit cracked, I know, but I just can't help myself.

Sheep in a Jeep 74 reviews Nancy E. Shaw
Houghton Mifflin, 1997
Sheep in a Jeep can't be beat! I was first introduced to this book when a friend's toddler received it for Christmas. He loved it. That was 5 or 6 years ago. Recently we found it at the library and my boys loved it so much that we bought our own. My 2yo son loves it and even the 4yo still asks to read it. It's a keeper!

Stellaluna (American Storytelling) 98 reviews Janell Cannon
August House Audio, 1999
My favorite children's book Note: My reviews are plagued by cyber stalkers who distort votes totals.
If I HAD to answer the question: What is your favorite children's book?, I would have to pick "Stellaluna." There, this children's librarian committed, but I think my students would know that. It's one of their favorites, too!!
What makes this book so special? E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G!! The story line, the embedded lessons, ...

Blue Hat, Green Hat 69 reviews
Little Simon, 1984
So good you'll hate it... I'm not entirely sure why, but my 18 month old absolutely loves this book. She has a shelf of literally hundreds of books. Blue Hat, Green Hat and But Not the Hippopotamus get read at least 20 times a day... every day.
Blue Hat, Green Hat is a book that will grow some. Initially, they will likely enjoy that every set of pages ends with "Ooops". From there though, they can learn about colors ...

Big Red Barn (Big Book) (Big Book) 76 reviews Margaret Wise Brown
Topeka Bindery, 1991
Utopia This is one of my favorite books to read to my son. The prose is beautiful, concise, and profound. It's a very subtle book and takes some quiet time to truly appreciate it. The Big Red Barn is a picture of utopia; animals coexisting in peace, playing throughout the day, and then resting at night.

I Am a Bunny (A Golden Sturdy Book) 76 reviews Ole Risom
Golden Books, 2004
Superb--Great First Book The storyline is very simple, a good complement to illustrations that are colorful and detailed enough to hold the attention of very young children. We got this when my first son was about 9 mos. old; within the next year he had it memorized and could "read" it to us. My son is now 22 (YEARS old) and my husband and I can still recite the book . . .

We love this book! I bought this for my 3 year old son after reading it in our pediatrician's waiting room. My son thinks it's hilarious and it's one of his favorites. It helps show him that moms love their kids no matter what, while keeping his interest with its silliness.
