The Backdoor of Heaven: Inspired Poetry & Reflections3 reviews
Patricia Ann Farnsworth-Simpson

PublishAmerica, 2006

Preparing for Heaven's Glory
***** 5 stars "The Backdoor to Heaven is a beautiful spiritual poetry book that was outstanding and superior in the concept written within each poem. Each poem brought me the feeling of peace and the imagery within the poet's words was extremely beautiful as the details were magnificent and brought the vision within our sight. I really loved the entire book but "It was God That Gave the ...

Out Your Backdoor, 2003

Rip-roaring Yarn!
What a great read! If you like a good old-fashioned tale of adventure you'll really enjoy this book. If you love the north Florida Gulf Coast it'll be even more fun and you'll find this book "un-put-downable"! The author obviously knows his locations and his citizens. This up-to date fictional tale of what is happening as the shrimpers of yesterday try to support their families doing what they ...

The Redemption of Love (The Art of Living Trilogy, 3)1 review
Ronald E. Puhek

Out Your Backdoor, 2003

A Wonderful Work for Our Time
This is a remarkable, bold, psychological, spiritual, and mystical work of a mature mind--full of original thoughts and insights, as well as of profound, timeless wisdom tailored to contemporary social life. Puhek sets forth a proposition, of momentous consequence today, that engages our faith and hope: "The Redemption of love also means that love itself needs redemption before it can be ...

Backdoor Blessings1 review
Cheryl Forbes

Zondervan, 1989

Count your backdoor blessings
I count my backdoor blessings every day with this fantastic book. As a public schoolboy and a Sandhurst veteran I have been lucky to avoid the outrage and indignity of violation a la greque - no mean feat, owing much to vigilance and a fierce right hook. Excellent book.

Failure: the backdoor to success1 review
Erwin W Lutzer

Moody Press, 1976

Extremely Encouraging
The book "Failure: The Back Door to Success" is an excellent resource. This book is very encouraging and informative, and one of the best nonfiction books I've read. Erwin Lutzer is very clear and concise. He doesn't beat around the bush when criticism is needed (it often is), and gives credit where credit is due. A must-read!

The Captain Nemo Cookbook Papers: Everyone's Guide to Zen and the Art of Boating in Hard Times Illustrated, A ...1 review
Hal Painter

Out Your Backdoor Press, 1998

More to come of "Capt. Nemo" by Hal Painter?
Hal Painter's enthusiasm is irrepressible and infectious. His "Captain Nemo's Cookbook Papers" puts the world of boats back in the water. I'm a friend of Hal's and have read the complete manuscript. Many scenes were cut from the original edition. Maybe it's time for the whole thing. Don Cochrane.

Stephen of the Holy Mountain2 reviews
Ronald E. Puhek

Out Your Backdoor, 1998

A book with insights for personal development
I enjoyed and was very challenged in reading Dr. Puhek's book. Through the form of a story of a man's journey up the side of a mountain, the contents contain wisdoms and insights for a culture that has been cut off from the truths that were in the past embedded in the spiritual teachings of traditional religions. It's beauty inspires a love for life. The ideas put forth draw on and yet ...

Momentum: Chasing The Olympic Dream is the 191-page autobiography of two-time Olympian, National Champion, and current US Ski Team Coach Pete Vordenberg. A frequent and popular contributor to ski magazines, Vordenberg ably narrates his life in skiing from his youthful efforts to his adult accomplishments around the world. More than a simple chronicle of obstacles and accomplishments, Momentum: ...

The Abyss Absolute: The Autobiography of a Suicide (The Blue Trilogy, 2)2 reviews
Ronald E. Puhek

Out Your Backdoor, 1998

Definitely Something to Sink Your Teeth Into
This book challenged me in a way that few books have ever done. As I read it, I kept going back and rereading sentences and paragraphs, trying to grasp exactly what was being said. I wasn't always successful but my lack of understanding made me want to keep reading rather than to simply give up. The challenge was not just intellectual but personal, deeply personal. If you're tired of ...

Securing Im and P2P Applications for the Enterprise6 reviews

Syngress, 2005

Great source of information on IM and P2P security
This book is a great source for information on the dangers of instant messaging and p2p networks. Although this material can apply to personal use, it is geared more towards system administrators and networked environments. The structure of the book is very well laid out, giving you the ability to jump from product to product or area of interest (such as AIM, eDonkey, or IRC as a whole). This ...

The Backdoor to Enlightenment: Eight Steps to Living Your Dreams and Changing Your World14 reviews
Za Rinpoche, Ashley Nebelsieck

Three Leaves, 2008

Practical, everyday and enchanting for all of us
Za Rinpoche and Ashley Nebelsieck write well in tandem to explain the basic Buddhist concepts of the Six Perfections and explain to the common reader how to seek happiness and enlightenment in their lives right now. Nebelsieck's engaging fiction, and Za Rinpoche's diamond-like wisdom and clarity provide a call-and-response effect that allows the reader to experience the journey of the central ...

Piano Chords & Progressions:: The Secret Backdoor to Exciting Piano Playing!11 reviews
Duane Shinn

Keyboard Workshop, 2006

Piano Chords & Progressions
The book is presented in a very succinct and comprehensive manner, yet it is very easy to understand. If a person is willing to invest the time following Mr. Shinn's suggestions, he/she will be able to learn chords and the progressions which could cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars in private lessons. I have played keyboards for many years and taken private lessons from several teachers. ...

The Modoc: Southern Pacific's Backdoor to Oregon1 review
Jack Bowden, Tom Dill

Oso Publishing, 2002

Gone But Not Forgotten
I was not sure what to expect when I bought this book, but I was pleasantly surprised. The authors spent a great amount of time gathering material, first-hand anecdotes, charts and other information to present a complete story of the SPs Modoc Line which ran through northeastern California and western Nevada. The production values and printing quality are typical of Oso Publishings work, in a ...

The Spirit of Contemplation (The Science of Life Trilogy, 3)1 review
Ronald E. Puhek

Out Your Backdoor, 1998

Spiritual Nourishment
I found Puhek's Spirit of Contemplation (the last of his many works about our spiritual journey) original, insightful, and inspiring--a wonderful outpouring of the human spirit. In all his writings, Puhek never fails to transport us into the realm of the transcendent. Meditation, he tells us, takes us out of the world, but contemplation returns us to it. Being both courageous and cautious in ...

The Recumbent Bicycle9 reviews
Gunnar Fehlau

Out Your Backdoor, 2000

Excellent book for new recumbenteers
I bought Gunnar Fehlau's book, "The Recumbent Bicycle," while shopping for my first recumbent bike. There's a lot of recumbent bicycle information available on the web, but most of it is disjointed. This book covers the topic of recumbent bicycles in an organized and cohesive way. It introduced me to the different types of recumbents and their merits. The chapter "Basics of Recumbent ...

Backdoor Friends: Erotic Stories For Gay Men1 review
Drake Reynolds

CreateSpace, 2008

Short Stories.
I'm a real fan of short stories because they show the potential for growth. Aside from a few types and immature grammar, these stories are quite fun. I think Mr. Reynolds should be encouraged to add more character growth in his next set of short stories.

Aggressive Network Self-Defense7 reviews
Neil R. Wyler, Bruce Potter, ...

Syngress, 2005

A lively, satisfying book for all levels of computer user
Most computer security books focus on how to defend a computer system or network from outside attack: that's the basic difference between them and Neil R. Wylder's Aggressive Network Self-Defense: I'm Mad As Hell, And I'm Not Gonna Take It Anymore! The focus here is on the technical, legal and financial ramifications of a 'strike-back' and 'active defense' program which promotes doing more than ...
