My daughters (ages 8 and 10) and I read this together and laughed aloud. The images are lively and the main character is endearing and quirky.

My new found sewing bible
I just bought this book because I wanted to freshen up my sewing. I knew how to home sew from my mother but I didn't know much about sewing techniques or terms or sewing notions and how to use them. This book was very easy to understand and explains everything I need to know about sewing and using notions and patterns. It's now my sewing bible! If I get stuck on something I grab my sew fast sew ...

Fine Dining Made Easy
The last book on CD my wife and I bought was terrible: mens' voices for female characters, etc. And what's the alternative on the radio? Pop music or Howard Stern? I spend twenty percent of my waking life in my car. I might as well spend it wisely. The Food Scholar is easy listening and presented in a way that makes the information easy to learn and remember.

Brothers in Battle - Best of Friends
Very frank, honest and interesting, as you would expect from Bill Gaurnere. The book is well written and hard to put down. The contrast in styles between Bill & Babe give an exellent perspective on thier stories and the little bit of banter between them is priceless. The post war approach to life adopted buy these guys is inspiring and positive. Thanks guys, great read.

Captures The Moment (and Piglet as the covergirl!)
Having worked at the sanctuary in Tylertown, MS where many of these animals were taken after the rescues documented in these extraordinary photographs, this book helps one vividly see what so many of these animals went through after the hurricane and before they arrived at our base camp. More can be said by these photos that captured how these beasts survived the days, weeks and sometimes months ...

Absolutely Hillarious!
This is one of the funniest books I have read in a long time. It's full of laugh-out-loud humour...yes, I was actually laughing out loud! The story is about Jess, a budding comedienne who has been trying without success to gain the affection of her long-time crush, Ben. Unfortunately, she is constantly being overshadowed by her "perfect" friend Flora. As a result, she'll go to any lengths to ...

My favorite cocktail book
This book is indispensable! It contains recipes for old-fashioned cocktails (and their history) as well as new "foofy" drinks. I much prefer it over Mr Boston for its variety. I enjoy drinks that are simple and use bitters or aperitifs, and this book has plenty of them! It also includes non-alcoholic drinks for the tee-totaler. I would recommend this book for anyone looking to build their bar ...

charming and tantalizing
Magical dorms in England? Who needs 'em. McCutchen gives us the down-home American farmland specificity of Iowa, very firmly rooted in time and space and a jumping-off point for a fine children's fantasy that will capture adults too. Perfectly paced, Lottie and Lewis's forays into Lightland left me wanting more; perhaps in what will hopefully be Lightland's sequel(s?) we will find out: what ...

Siamese cat lovers....
The most exquisitely illustrated book I've ever owned! A fun, fictitious way to describe how white siamese kittens get their colors. It's a bit long for a bed time story, but really fun! Kids ages 8 or 9 and up may be able to read it themselves, but the beginners may have a hard time.

Powerful story
Most books that deal with drug use gone seriously wrong only touch the surface of what the family, friends, and even victims go through before and after. But BLOOD BROTHERS by Shirley Harazin shows a realistic portrayal of the terrible after effects of drug use. From the very first page I was hooked. BF's Clay and Joey have been through alot of history. Clay still remembers the first time they ...

Melanie Martin Goes Dutch: A real "that's just like..." book
When you open this book, you will find yourself peeking into the private diary of Melanie Martin, a ten year old girl living in New York with her mom, dad and Matt the Bratt (aka little brother!). Her mom is an art teacher who teaches her kids to appreciate art, and she loves when they do, even if its only because it includes naked people or blood scenes! The story starts when summer vacation ...

A Magical Book that Will Resonate with Teens and Adults
I absolutely loved this book. Monsoon Summer is the story of 15-year-old Jasmine Carol Gardner, known as Jazz. Jazz is the product of her bulky, introverted white father and her petite, activist Indian-born mother. Genetically, and by her choices, Jazz takes mostly after her father, while her younger brother, Eric, resembles their mother. Their family is very close, however, with a strong sense ...

Fun, entertaining and uplifting Christian chick-lit...
I enjoy reading chick-lit, but I shied away from it for a while because they all began to sound alike. When I heard of Christian chick-lit, I thought it would be an interesting genre to read. I love Christian novels, but most of the ones I've read are historical sagas, and I had no idea what to expect from Kristin Billerbeck's A Girl's Best Friend. This is a fun and entertaining novel with a ...
