Eclipse Special Edition (The Twilight Saga) 8 reviews Stephenie Meyer
Little, Brown Young Readers, 2008
Vamp it Up Ms. Meyer If you love Vampire sagas, this one is great!!! The whole series is awesome. It is the perfect combination of love, teenage angst, and the inescapable draw of vampire lore. This book, in particular, with the sneak peak chapter, of the coming 4th book in August, only makes you thirst for "more". Ms. Meyer's series is bound to give J.K. Rowling a run for her literary money. :a)

Twilight (The Twilight Saga, Book 1) 1620 reviews Stephenie Meyer
Little, Brown Young Readers, 2006
enjoyable love story for teens Although some of the girlish emotion was a bit over the top for me, this story of improbable love between a lonely girl and a young adult vampire was compelling. My teenage girl students love this series with a passion. I found it largely predictable but I got involved with the characters anyway. I especially liked Edward's vampire family for their quirky individuality and humor.

Things Fall Apart (Modern Critical Interpretations Series) 525 reviews Chinua Achebe
Chelsea House Publications, 2002
A classic, with good reason This is an extraordinary book in its ability to narrate both a story of cultural dissonance and an overarching tale about the human condition. Achebe's novel broaches the subject of morality, but demonstrates that even the concept of "evil" is subject to a cultural interpretive context.
Okonkwo, the book's tragic hero, is an emblem of tradition, but also represents how tradition can be ...

One of the best trilogies I've read in a long time After reading the end of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit a couple times, and all of the Chronicles of Narnia, I really needed a book that would let me escape from the only reading I had been doing which were scholarly articles on Political Science and the Environment for school. I heard about the Golden Compass due tot he movie, but had not yet seen it. So since I had a gift ...

Nick of Time 12 reviews Ted Bell
St. Martin's Griffin, 2008
A must read! If you liked Ted Bell's "Hawk" series, you'll LOVE "Nick of Time". I was hesitant when I first ordered this book, since I'm usually disappointed with the early works of authors when they are released after a successful series. This certainly wasn't the case here. Not only was "Nick of Time" a lively tale that kept me drawn in from page one, it also provided an interesting background for the ...

The Book Thief (Readers Circle) 347 reviews Markus Zusak
Knopf Books for Young Readers, 2007
In which a beautiful small girl defies the might of Hitler! "The Book Thief" is an extraordinary book, indeed, the finest I've read in many years! Do you remember all of those aggravating literary clichés you read so often on book covers and publicity blurbs? Haunting, compelling, uplifting, powerful, deeply moving and gut-wrenching? Well, it's hardly overstating the case to suggest that "The Book Thief" has earned every last one of them. The narrator (we ...
