helpful tips
I purchased this product after viewing a collection of Cesar's dvd's. They don't provide "How to..." for training a dog to do "Things"(sit, down, etc.) but they are very insightful in understanding how to have a good relationship with your pet as dog and master. The book has helped us get off to a good start with our new puppy.

Brilliant book for boys or girls
My nine year old twin girls love the book. Sure, they have no interest in hunting rabbits (they're vegetarians) or famous battles in history (at least not yet), but there's a lot in here for any kid who is not on too tight of a parental leash. Get this and the girls' book too. A lot of worthwhile bits in each.

To be cliche - it changed my life
I have read a myriad of books about space clearing and getting organized, but none hit the spot like Peter Walsh's philosophy of getting (and staying) organized. Even Walsh admits that much of what he does is good ol' common sense, and it is. He puts his educational psychology degree to excellent and practical use in his career. He's one person who deserves all the positive publicity he ...

again the perfect gift for any cesar fan
again cesar proves that it is not the dogs that have the problems it is the humans that cause them through our lack of information and experience and also our actions of assuming we can treat a dog like a human and it still behave like a dog and picking the wrong breed of dog for our own lifestyle. excellent read a must buy

Mothers are mothers, fathers are fathers, and anyone demanding that human biology now conform to societal trends is in need of some basic critical-thinking skills. The master writer is also a bookman...
I came to know McMurtry as many did through his excellent novel Lonesome Dove: A Novel (Simon & Schuster Classics). Then I learned I already knew him through the many screenplays and novels he has written that became major motion pictures: Hud, The Last Picture Show (Definitive Director's Cut Special Edition), Terms of Endearment to name a few. I have since read most of what he has written. I ...

Absolutely wonderful
This is a book I kept seeing in the stores and passing by, and finally recently picked it up and read a few pages. Right then I was hooked. I took it home and read the entire thing that night. I laughed out loud, and I cried too with this book. It takes you on this entire journey with this hilarious and loving dog. I also have a yellow lab, so I related to this book also very much. They're ...

Local Grown is Best!
I love all things written by Barbara Kingsolver. This book provides practical ways a person can become a little less dependent on store purchased foods (especially those out of season) and a little more aware of where the food they are eating is from. Recipes, ideas, and facts are included in the book. While many people reading the book won't make the commitment that Kingsolver makes to eat an ...

Try this before the "cry it out method", it may be the one for you!
I have a 6 month old daughter that has never slept more than 1.5 hours at anytime and never on her own. She had terrible acid reflux that went undiagnosed until she was 3 months old and the Dr's kept telling me she was "colicky". Laying down pained her so I did what any compassionate parent does, I walked her to sleep and held her for naps and at night she slept on her side curled up into me so ...

Great book for the not so hot gardener
Great book with information explaining why this type garden works and why it is easy to maintain. I have a big yard, but I want several small gardens that are easy to maintain. A friend told me about the PBS shows he saw and told me buy the book. I plan to start this fall. The book gives all the information I need.

Body For Life is for real
Body for Life: 12 Weeks to Mental and Physical Strength I bought the book because I wanted to know what a friend of mine was doing. She bought the book because a friend told her about it. My friend saw her friend's transformation and wanted to share it with me. I've got the book and am now transforming myself! I had to tell my friends. Get in the gym. Eat right. Work hard. You will get ...

I'm inspired
Well researched and considered. Thorough, yet practical and attainable. I appreciated learning about all the different types of root cellars and how to build them. Previous to reading this book, a root cellar to me was and expensive underground project with stairs and cement walls and electricity. Until I can afford that we can inexpensively create/build/dig the other options.

Don't Let the Title Fool You
While I am a many time author and know it's proven that the "101..." titles sell, I usually shy away from them. But thanks to the reviews on Amazon I bought this book. As reviewers wrote, this book is excellent. It's the "Dog Tricks" part that suggested it isn't a serious dog training book; but serious it is. Yes, some of these could be called "tricks", but all of the basics that are so ...

Just what I needed!
Only a few pages into this book I realized I needed to read it before continuing with my gardening plans. I am thrilled to have the good solid advice. For me, I treasured the relearning of the things my father taught me so many years ago. Digging the garden, fertilizing the soil, using coffee grounds and how to weed were only vague memories which had been over-written by today's easy methods ...

girls going green!
I have mixed feelings about this book. Overall, I think it has a lot of good advice that can be easily applied. On a positive note, it is clearly written for women. The jokes, comments, etc. always refer to "The Gorgeously Green Girl" which makes this book a great gift for female friends and family members. For myself, I found it a bit annoying after a while but could overlook it. The book does ...

Best Cookie Cookbook and I'm not a Martha fan!
Okay, let me start by saying that I am far from being a Martha Stewart fan. I try to avoid anything associated with her. That being said, I fell in love with this cookbook the minute I picked it up. My Mom happens to like Martha and had the cookbook sitting out. The book offers a picture for every cookie recipe in the book and who doesn't like pictures. It is well organized into sections ...

Eliot Coleman is a superb author and teacher. This little book would inspire anybody to grow their own, stash and enjoy the larder of their labor and give humor along with it all! I also bought his other book on Organic Gardening and it's also very informative.....they go hand in hand and I feel like I've taken a biological study in the basics - right down to the tools! A great read...
