Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives 244 reviews Michael Newton
Llewellyn Publications, 2002
Life Between Lives This is the first of three books that Michael Newton Ph.D. has written on this subject of our souls and the spirit world in which we all reside. It is one of the most accurate writings on this subject. This book, Journey of Souls, and the companion to it; "Destiny of Souls" is an eye opening collection of client dialog and author analogy that will satify your metaphysical thirst for the true ...

How to Read Literature Like a Professor: A Lively and Entertaining Guide to Reading Between the Lines 53 reviews Thomas C. Foster
Harper Paperbacks, 2003
great book for students This is a lively, friendly, entertaining book that is great for students. It discusses how to read, to to really read literature. But as a practiced reader I found that it didn't teach me much, though it would be great for a freshman or sophmore.

It really is the mother of all pregrancy books After reading several other pregnancy books, although reading over the same topics, Ann Douglas provides more helpful information. Her writing style is easy to read, funny at times and not biased. You feel as if you are listening to a friend sometimes. This book covers everything from preconception to delivery. This book provides excellent questions for interviewing doctors/midwives. She provides ...

Buying In: The Secret Dialogue Between What We Buy and Who We Are 7 reviews Rob Walker
Random House, 2008
Energy Drink Kitesurfing I second what Po Bronson says about "Buying In." This book is much more than a simple, cocktail party business book -- it's an attentive, subtle and entertaining meditation that not only uncovers the latest trends in buying, selling and marketing but also pushes us to consider larger questions beyond these subjects. Personally, since finishing the book, I've taken a harder look at my purchases ...

Plum Lovin' (A Between-the-Numbers Novel) 253 reviews Janet Evanovich
St. Martin's Press, 2007
Plum Loving This is a between books, novel. It may not be absolutely necessary to read this to complete the Stephanie Plum series, but it does give us insights into Stephanie's character as well as a deeper insight into other characters who are regulars in the series. It is a "stand alone" book, but I would recommend that it be read in the order in which it was witten.

Sex God: Exploring the Endless Connections between Sexuality and Spirituality 88 reviews Rob Bell
Zondervan, 2007
More Than I Thought I may not be the most qualified reviewer of Rob Bell's new work "Sex God" provided the fact that I have only read the first half of the book. Moreover, I have limited exposure to Rob himself. While I have watched a couple of his NOOMA videos I have not read his first wrok, "Velvit Elvis." Nonetheless, this book is certainly captivating.
From the on-set Bell demonstrates a command of his chosen ...

The Places In Between 140 reviews Rory Stewart
Harvest Books, 2006
Rory, Babur and Babur I understand and concur to a qualified extent with some of the less than glowing reviews here. Yes, the prose is sparse. Yes, our author doesn't seem to talk very much about himself. Yes, Tom Bissell's review in the NYT is ridiculously encomiastic...."a novelist's sense of character"...??? I wonder what particular novelist Mr. Bissell had in mind. But to counter these criticisms, I would ...

Rivals: How the Power Struggle Between China, India and Japan Will Shape Our Next Decade 5 reviews Bill Emmott
Harcourt, 2008
Strategic primer on Asian diplomacy Bill Emmott's thesis is, as the title makes plain, that Asia's three great powers are competing against each other rather than conspiring against the West. He shows this by always returning to the national interests that drive each country's progress and by explaining how shared interests can quickly turn into conflicting and competing ones.
The book is divided into nine chapters. Chapters one ...

Destiny of Souls: New Case Studies of Life Between Lives 80 reviews Michael Newton
Llewellyn Publications, 2000
I loved this book too This is sort of part two of 2 books. You don't have to believe everything you read for a book to offer you something of value. This book is very stimulating and can get you to think twice about many things you do in life and how you view what others do. Like what is really most important in life and in all your relationships with people. And that is the value of reading it [Not trying to prove ...

Must Read for Foreign Policy This is the first and so far only book that has taken a critical look at what happened from 1989 to 2001. The substance of the book is a perfect starting point for the ongoing foreign policy debates between the left and the right.
This is a must read for any who are concerned or interested in the foreign policy of this country. Past is prologue.

Good Guys and Bad Guys: Behind the Scenes with the Saints and Scoundrels of American Business (and Everything ... 5 reviews Joe Nocera
Portfolio Hardcover, 2008
An Abundance of Eloquent Insights Great journalists are renowned for "getting the story" and then telling it well because they are gifted raconteurs whose keen analytical minds focus on who and what are most interesting as well as most significant. They suggest implications that help their readers (and viewers) to gain a greater understanding of what the "story" means. In recent years, my favorite journalists include Ken Auletta, ...

Connecting more dots from troubled era It's a well-written, well-sourced book detailing disturbing relationships, among them:
* The mob and the Mormons in Las Vegas
* The rum-running "founding father" Joseph Kennedy and his intertwined business interests with the criminal element
* The at-times destructive relationship of the brothers Kennedy to one another.
Mr. Hersh's account is high on credibility and readability. However, this ...
