MRI in Practice (3rd Edition) 25 reviews Catherine Westbrook, Carolyn Kaut Roth, ...
Wiley-Blackwell, 2005
MRI Bible When I was training at the University of Pennsylvania this book was known as our "Bible". In short, it comprehensivly covers MRI from Atoms to Zipper artifacts. The book can be a little technical at times but unfortunatly, that's MRI for you. It does a great job at explaining the basic concepts of MRI and then building on those ideas to explain the more complex ones (K-Space headaches anyone?). A ...

A Guide to Econometrics 39 reviews Peter Kennedy
Wiley-Blackwell, 2008
A Must Have for Econometrics Students I should have book earlier versions of this book. Kennedy's A Guide to Econometrics has been recommended to me by a few people for a few years now, but I only got myself a copy last year (2008) when the 6th edition came out. The author does a wonderful job explaining a lot of the econometrics concepts that may have been missed by standard econometrics texts. The reason may be that the format ...

Review From Books & Wine Reading philosophy and literary theory related to books I've already read is like being given a key. I feel like I've unlocked some secrets within the text and have been given a better view of what deeper meanings Alice In Wonderland may contain.
Alice In Wonderland And Philosophy: Curiouser and Curiouser is comprised of four subject sections. Each section is divided into chapters/essays, all ...

50 Great Myths of Popular Psychology: Shattering Widespread Misconceptions about Human Behavior 14 reviews Scott O. Lilienfeld, Steven Jay Lynn, ...
Wiley-Blackwell, 2009
What we might want to believe Myths, like memory, can reconstruct events for ceremony and solace. In its cultural or religious sense, myth can serve as transformer. That is not the sense of myth utilized in this book.
In this book, a myth is a false and misleading conclusion, which urban legend supports despite evidence to the contrary. The purpose of this book is to present evidence to the contrary, still encouraging ...

The Life & Love of Trees 13 reviews Lewis Blackwell
PQ Blackwell / Chronicle Books, 2009
Loose Yourself in the Loveliness of Trees The photographs in this book The Life & Love of Trees are spectacular beyond words. Lewis Blackwell's seemingly bigger than life photographs lure you into the very nature, the very presence of these living giants. Several times I have found myself happily lost meandering in and out of the colorful pages of this BIG impressive book of Trees.
To me the words in the book are only second in ...

Strategic Management of Health Care Organizations 10 reviews Linda E. Swayne, W. Jack Duncan, ...
Wiley-Blackwell, 2009
Both conceptual and practical tools This is an outstanding book. While naturally oriented to strategic management of health care it is also a comprehensive framework to strategic management in general. The book's layout is that of a university textbook but it is also written in an enjoyable style. I read this book as a practitioner and not a formal student and found it extremely readable and helpful. The authors present both ...

LSAT For Dummies 21 reviews Amy Hackney Blackwell
For Dummies, 2004
Best study guide thus far This book is a really great study guide. I read this book before reading the Kaplan studay guide material and it really helped break down the material and even uses a bit of humor. What I like best is how the aruthor provides a break down on how they arrived at the correct answer. I highly recommend this book if you are preparing the LSAT or condering taking the exam. It is a very through read.

Philosophical Investigations 1 review Ludwig Wittgenstein
Wiley-Blackwell, 2009
Finally, a significantly revised translation Even though Wittgenstein's German is nothing like Kant's, providing a good translation of his work is a challenge given all that one must bring into consideration. Anscombe's original translation had its merits, but it also had a number of frustrating flaws.
One of the many problems with Anscombe's translation of PI, is her translation of both "hinweisende Erklärung" and "hinweisende ...

Art in Theory 1900 - 2000: An Anthology of Changing Ideas 4 reviews
Wiley-Blackwell, 2002
A valuable reference book Had I read the reviews about this book, I wouldn't have bought it.
I had to though, for my "Art: Language and Theory" class, in my second year of Graphic Design major. I was shocked with it at first, it's almost 1300 pages, with not a single image in it! It looked extremely dull. But the thing is, I found it extremely useful, and enjoyable to read at times too. It covers art theories in the 20th ...

The Production of Space 4 reviews Henri Lefebvre
Wiley-Blackwell, 1992
Space is produced by, and produces, society Thinkers have long analyzed things in space, but it is time to analyze space itself and "the social relationships embedded in it" according to Lefebvre. He wants to analyze the form, structure, and function of something he calls "social space" and explore how such spaces have been produced. "Social space" partly consists of a certain configuration of actual space in actual time. Space also ...

Secondhand Spirits: A Witchcraft Mystery 25 reviews Juliet Blackwell
Signet, 2009
Spellbinding! Well, I have to say, despite the new genre of paranormal and it seems everyone is kicking out book series on witches, ghosts, vampires etc this one was pretty good. I've been reading quite a few and most of them just don't make the grade. However, this one kept my interest going. I really enjoyed the characters, Oscar being my favorite and the seemingly unique plot and surprise ending. Being ...
