The Teacher's Daybook, 2008-2009 Edition: Time to Teach, Time to Learn, Time to Live1 review
Jim Burke

Heinemann, 2008

A great organizer
As an English teacher, I've relied on Jim Burke for his great books on perfecting the craft of teaching. Since the first publication of the Teacher's Daybook, I've been hooked. This book is divided up in a way that allows the user to balance out school and life. There are many useful sections such as information for substitute teachers, lesson plan templates, student surveys, and room for ...

The Blank Slate: The Modern Denial of Human Nature198 reviews
Steven Pinker

Penguin (Non-Classics), 2003

Blank Slate is erased
Stephen Pinker does an admirable job debunking the myth of the blank slate in this tome. Yes, what he says should be common sense by now. No, it is not. There are many places in the book where Pinker's values and background become evident. However, these are a small price to pay for a great book. So, what does Pinker do that's so great? 1) He takes his opponents seriously and mounts ...

Trully a beautiful baby journal!
I can't be more pleased with the baby journal. It has a good binding, fun stuffs, beautiful graphics, and my most favorite part is that is has wonderful quotation, both from famous people and from the bible! I love it! I love it! It's good to get it while you're still pregnant (I'm 8 months pregnant now) as the journal has stuffs to fill out before the birth of the baby.

The Belly Book: A Nine-Month Journal for You and Your Growing Belly (Potter Style)51 reviews
Amy Krouse Rosenthal

Potter Style, 2006

You HAVE TO get this book!
I LOVE the Belly Book! It is so fun and easy to fill in, and has tons of cute/funny questions and lots of spaces for belly and ultrasound pictures. I bought a different journal when I first found out I was expecting and didn't really like it. It was so boring and wordy. The Belly Book is perfect!

Jurassic Park646 reviews
Michael Crichton

Ballantine Books, 1991

Thrilling
I didn't think I'd care for this book; I saw the movie when it came out in 1993 and liked it well enough. No big deal for me. But the book is GINORMOUSLY better than the movie. It is an absolute thriller. You won't be able to put it down.

Moleskine Ruled Notebook Large3 reviews

Moleskine, 2008

More for the same
Isn't it something how Amazon will charge $17.95 for the item stocked by Amazon shipping free 2-day with your $75/year subscription, but it is only $13.50 Moleskine Large Notebook Ruled if you buy through Amazon from another retailer? Doesn't seem right, really.

The Travels of a T-Shirt in the Global Economy: An Economist Examines the Markets, Power, and Politics of ...30 reviews
Pietra Rivoli

Wiley, 2006

Fantastic, well-written, and eye-opening
Upon first glance, it might appear that this book details economic aspects of a single industry, namely that of T-shirts. You'd be mistaken. It instead offers an insightful look into several different aspects of T-shirt production, including agriculture, factory working conditions, free trade (and lack thereof), and concluding with the world-wide used T-shirt market. Each of these ...

Frances E. Wilkins

MemoryMinder Journals, Inc., 2007

great tool!
I have really enjoyed using this journal. It has everything I could think of and more. I looked it up because I heard Reese Witherspoon used one, and wanted to see what it was about. If you have a hard time keeping track of what you eat and when you exercise, this will help a lot!

Our Wedding Anniversary Memory Book62 reviews
Rae Wakelin, Joy Rodgers-Mernin

Talus Corporation, 1997

A no-fuss way to document the special moments of your marriage!
I attended a bridal shower recently and this was a gift that was given to the bride. I thought it was such a cute idea that I decided to order one for my husband and me (ok..so it was more for me than my husband but he feigned excitement). On the first page of this book is an Apache wedding prayer, which is followed by a space for you to include a wedding picture and details about your ...

Your Birthday Book: A Keepsake Journal3 reviews
Amy Krouse Rosenthal

Potter Style, 2007

great book
I ordered this for my son who just turned 9. I have had great intentions of grand scrapbooks, but they have never happened. This was perfect for my needs, I just wish I had know about it earlier. Spots for a few pictures, pockets for small keepsakes, and great questions, as well as "interactive" projects for the kids to represent their point of view. A quick, fun way to capture the previous year ...

Engineering Economy (McGraw-Hill Series in Industrial Engineering and Management)11 reviews
Leland T Blank, Anthony Tarquin

McGraw-Hill Science/Engineering/Math, 2004

Helped me earn an A
I don't understand where all of the negative reviews are coming from. The 6th edition of this textbook was used in my Financial Aspects of Engineering class my final semester. Officially it is a 400 level course, but in reality it is more like a 200 level course. I literally skipped half of the lectures (remember, it was my final semester) and still earned an A in the class. I think grades ...

School Years: A Family Keepsake of School Memories16 reviews

Chronicle Books, 2006

Great little book
This is the same book I had as a child that my mom kept my pictures in along with my signature over the years and my friends and interests. It is not a book to keep a large number of momentos in but is a great little 1 stop go to treasure book to look back on now that I am older. I am pleased with my order and the short time I received the package after I placed the order. After I received the ...

Point Blank (Alex Rider Adventures)124 reviews
Anthony Horowitz

Puffin, 2006

Boy Spy
Point Blank is a great book by Anthony Horowitz. It's in a series with the main character being Alex Rider. I rate this book 5 stars, and I highly recommend this book for anyone who likes spy books. It's full of action and adventure! It reminds me of James Bond and Indiana Jones, because of all of the excitment and spying. Alex's is an MI6. MI6 in England is the same as the CIA in America. It's a ...

Ticket Stub Diary6 reviews
Eric Epstein

Chronicle Books, 2006

Clever Idea
Great idea and design. The diary is small - not bulky and won't take up a lot of space if your bookshelves are already crowded and space is a concern. However, despite the compact size, the diary holds a lot of tickets and offers an ample number of lines to write your thoughts so you won't forget the details of the event. The cover is sporty too.
