goljan review book review
this book is amazing. it's tough for some to get used to the outline format, but once you do, you realize that it covers everything that's important in a very organized, readable fashion. there are good applicable pics and charts, along with big margins to write extra notes in. i wish i used it during my first year of medical school (i got it in the beginning of 2nd year).

The Very Hungry Caterpillar board book314 reviews
Eric Carle

Philomel, 1994

Classic and timeless
I didn't grow up with English-language chidren literature classic books, so I was not thrilled with the book at first. My daughter was, and still is. We had The Very Hungry Caterpillar since she was about 3 months, and she keeps returning to it every two weeks or so. When she started to say more (at about 18 months), I realized that she knows the whole story by heart. I would make a pause in the ...

Great
A wonderful book with great illustrations, and the brushing teeth of course is a bonus, anything to get a child to do so is always welcome. A good bedtime story.

Peek-A Who?96 reviews
Nina Laden

Chronicle Books, 2000

Eek-a!
My 13 month old loves this book. It actually inspired her fifth word! We were reading the book and as I was about to say "Peek-A... Moo", I heard this tiny "eek-a" from my daughter. I turned the page for Peek-a-Boo, and before I could say anything, she did it again - "eek-a". It's repetitious so I think it taught her to say the word. Now she loves to say "eek-a" before I turn the page. I ...

Linda S Costanzo

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2006

Best title in the series!
I think this is the best BRS there is. I used this book for course exam prep as well as board review. It is a great tool to highlight important concepts, and it explains things in a simple and effective way with the right amount of information.

Brown Bear & Friends Board Book Gift Set13 reviews
Bill Martin, Eric Carle

Henry Holt and Co. (BYR), 2007

Beautiful, off-beat books.
Our baby girl loves these books. They're pretty well indestructible. The artwork is charming and a little trippy. The panda book in particular is simply gorgeous. Highly recommended.

Guess How Much I Love You288 reviews
Sam McBratney

Candlewick, 1996

This Book Makes Me Smile
I love this story. I find myself smiling and getting that warm, fuzzy feeling as the father rabbit and son exchange conversation about how much they love each other, each one topping the other's love. This is one of the first books that I bought for my son because it tells of the boundless love that a parent has for their children. Truly, one of the sweetest children's books ever written. ...

Dear Zoo: A Lift-the-Flap Book45 reviews

Little Simon, 2007

Great little book!
This is such fun for my two year old grandson! It is tough enough to last through many readings, and he is fascinated by opening each one of the little doors as we read through it. At this age, he probably does not really "get" the story line, but he loves the surprise of each little door opening, and saying the name of the animal.

BRS Pathology (Board Review Series)54 reviews
Arthur S Schneider, Philip A Szanto

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2005

High yield pathology review
This is an excellent review for both a pathology course and for studying for USMLE Step I. Its main weakness is that it doesn't include very many images, so you need an atlas of some sort as a companion. I used an image bank my school provided and this book alone to study for pathology on Step I, and I did extremely well.

Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks from A to Z (A Chunky Book(R))39 reviews
Richard Scarry

Random House Books for Young Readers, 1990

My son loves this book...
I bought this book as filler, to receive free shipping. It's a small, inexpensive book. The illustrations are very cute and the format is nice. It has the letter of the alphabet and then vehicles that start with that letter. It's been great alphabet and two-word phrase practice for my 22-month old. He enjoys reading this book with me and he now says "garbage truck" and "big truck." I'm very happy ...

Dr. Seuss's ABC: An Amazing Alphabet Book!79 reviews
Dr. Seuss

Random House Books for Young Readers, 1996

A Great book to teach ABC's!
I got this book because I wanted something that I could use to help teach my son his ABC's. I bought it when he was about 15 months and immediately he enjoyed the book. We would sing the song, read through the entire book, I'd point out the letters etc. I find this book a very helpful starting point for learning the alphabet, a fun way! One idea for younger toddlers, when I started we'd just ...
