Colombia (Bradt Travel Guide)1 review
Sarah Woods

Bradt Travel Guides, 2008

the worst guide i've ever used - read this before going to colombia
just got back from colombia. i brought this and my friend brough the lonely planet. this book is horrendous, even compared to the LP. both are weak, but the LP is by far the better of the two. the most important thing about a guide is safety, in a place like colombia. this book, it seems, just copied the LP for everything but history. it's supposed to be the most recent guide, but has nothing ...

George B. Bradt, Jayme Check, ...

Wiley, 2006

The only complete book for starting a new job as a leader from A-Z
We bought this book along with the "The First 90 Days" and read them side by side. Pro: -Delves into what questions to ask before the interview through the first several months... I found no other book that is this complete from beginning to end -Promotes using the time opportunity BEFORE you start a job and in my experience is a major differentiator that I've been able to surprise and ...

Hugely detailed, engaging style, up-to-date, fun and informative to read. Without any doubt the best guide to Madagascar on the market.

Uganda, 5th: The Bradt Travel Guide6 reviews
Philip Briggs

Bradt Travel Guides, 2007

One of the best travel guides ever
I've traveled to over 40 countries in the past 15 years and read between 1-3 travel guides before going to each country. This is one of the best travel guides I've ever read. Very detailed, current, no superficiality. Strong on history, sights and culture. I really can't think of how this book could have been improved. And read Abyssinian Chronicles before you go to Uganda. Wonderful character ...

This makes a great pre-trip read and trip companion

Northern Tanzania: The Bradt Safari Guide with Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar (Bradt Travel Guide)7 reviews
Philip Briggs

Bradt Travel Guides, 2006

A must read and take book for the Tanzania Safari-Goer
I recently returned from a Safari to Tanzania, mainly centered around animal and native peoples visiting. I found this book invaluable as a background read before the visit, and also during the visit. It is well written and covers the highlights in a very succint and informative manner. It is portable as well, and I referred to it many times during the two week trip. Afterwards I also used it ...

Bradt Travel Guides, 2006

My compliments to Philip Briggs
Not only his Ethiopia guidebook is the best I have used in the last ten years (reliable, well informed, and so well written that reading it is a pleasure) but also Philip is very helpful and eager to solve any doubt or problem: he always replied immediatly and with great courtesy and competence to my many questions about Ethiopia. Highly recommended.

Botswana: Okavango Delta, Chobe, Northern Kalahari, 2nd: The Bradt Travel Guide3 reviews
Chris McIntyre

Bradt Travel Guides, 2007

Detailed Guidebook
Having just returned from Botswana, I highly recommend this book. It is accurate with just the right amount of detail. Although the author owns his own travel company, his comments and reviews were accurate, thorough and objective as to safari experiences as well as other tour operators.

Congo (Bradt Travel Guide)5 reviews
Sean Rorison

Bradt Travel Guides, 2008

Accurate Writing on a Moving Target
Without a doubt, writing about a locale as either of the Congos is a daunting task. Rorison does so with aplomb. The book, one of the few I have ever found on the area, covers general background and history and local logistical details well. It is clear from the details that the author has actually traveled to the area he is writing about - a small but critical fact that has sadly been ...

Azores, 3rd: The Bradt Travel Guide2 reviews
David Sayers

Bradt Travel Guides, 2006

Excellent reference book on Azores
My wife and inlaws are natives of Pico, Azores and I purchased this book as reference material for a upcoming family trip to Pico. We all found valuable information in the book and my inlaws even learned a few things they didn't know about their homeland. Well worth the money. Strongly recommend buying the Azores road map too.

Rwanda, 3rd: The Bradt Travel Guide7 reviews
Philip Briggs

Bradt Travel Guides, 2006

A great guide to Rwanda
The Bradt Guide is by far the most comprehensive guide to Rwanda that I was able to find. I don't know what I would have done on my trip without it. The book is a mix of background info and travel tips. One good thing to know is that Kigali has added a "5" in front of all the phone numbers since the guide was published.

Antarctica: A Guide to the Wildlife, 4th (Bradt Guides)5 reviews
Tony Soper

Bradt Travel Guides, 2005

Great, portable guide
I bought this book in preparation for a trip 'South' in December 1999/January 2000 and it was an extremely useful guide to wildlife in general but especially good for penguin information. The drawings by an ancestor of Robert F. Scott's are lifelike, and engaging art as well. The brief summaries of natural and exploration history are accessible and informative. If you are looking for a portable ...

USA by Rail, 6th (Bradt Rail Guides)19 reviews
John Pitt

Bradt Travel Guides, 2005

Excellent resource for "trainers"
I strongly recommend this guide for those who expect to take any substantial Aamtrak trip. We have taken a number of them and I throughly believe this is one of the best guides that is out. Not only does it provide information you can use as the trip progresses, but helps with distances so you can pick the right stop or what train to take while planning your trip. Some of the trains have ...

Serbia, 2nd (Bradt Travel Guide)2 reviews
Laurence Mitchell

Bradt Travel Guides, 2007

2nd edition of the best guidebook for Serbia: more informative, more correct and more interesting!
In the 2nd edition of his already excellent guidebook L. Mitchell has given a considerably enlarged, significantly improved and fully updated story about the country where I work as a licensed tourist guide and therefore I thought I knew it best. To my surprise, I was able to discover in this book not only a great deal of practical information mainly useful for visitors and tourists alike, ...

Zambia, 4th (Bradt Travel Guide Zambia)
Chris McIntyre

Bradt Travel Guides, 2008

Zambia is one of the best destinations in Africa for walking and river safaris, yet it is little explored by travellers. This fourth edition covers the prime attractions, including all national parks, from the lower Zambezi and Kafue to the famous Luangwa Park, host to several unique species and the top place for leopard-spotting. Advice for the independent traveler includes how to choose first-class bushcamps, lodges and/or hotels to organise ...

Montenegro, 3rd (Bradt Travel Guide)1 review
Annalisa Rellie

Bradt Travel Guides, 2008

definitive guidebook to emerging destination
Annalisa Rellie has written a smart, indgithful and passionate survey of this fascinating small country. Her descriptions tend towards the poetic but her insight is strong. It's a thorough and authoritative guide which I found to be really practical and useful. Well done Mrs. Rellie, and well done Bradt.

Kyrgyzstan (Bradt Travel Guide)
Laurence Mitchell

Bradt Travel Guides, 2008

Following the break-up of the USSR, Kyrgyzstan soon earned a reputation as the most hospitable and least repressive of the newly emerged central Asian republics. Unlike some of its neighbors, it has actively encouraged foreign tourism and has pursued a policy of supporting community projects with an emphasis on adventure tourism. It remains extremely cheap and offers excellent value for the services and experiences it offers which include ...
