Facercises really work
I'm commenting on the facercise program (the exercises) and not necessarily the book. I did purchase it but didn't have the patience to read it (that's just me). I highly recommend purchasing the dvds instead. The visual demo vs. written explanation is much better to follow in my opinion. I make time to facercise once a day, virtually every day, and I must say, my face looks great. Better, ...

Just awful.
I have NEVER read a book labeled as health promotion that was less about health. This book really belongs in a philosophy of new age theory. You will learn how to enter into relationships of ethical proportions to help with self esteem issues of transgendered beings of consciousness. At the same time you learn how to promote well being through the United Nations and universal ...

A Great Way to Teach Writing
I started using this text in my beginning reporting and writing classes a year ago. It was a strange experience: My students actually loved a textbook! I think that because this text does a good job of getting over the touchy-feely parts of treating the writing and editing processes as coaching processes, and shows how it's actually done. My students were able to convert her perspectives ...

I have been through a few bad and good text books throughout my college career, but this had to be one of the best I ever picked up. It is easy to search through and actually makes the topics interesting to read.

A great personal, teaching and counseling tool
As a counselor, I'm always looking for new books and ideas to engage clients... this book has some wonderful exercises and the comentary is quite enlightening as well. I bought one for myself and then bought one for my adult daughter. I love the 'five finger exercise!'

A normal Psych Book
It's no better than the next book, but it's not a chore reading it either. Get the 8th edition and save a lot of money. As a psych major I still read all the required chapters and found bits and pieces of new information.

Not a Boomer but definitely a fan...
I couldn't put this book down. I'm a 29-year-old who has been a Joni Mitchell fan since early high school when one of my mom's friends turned me onto her. My life was never quite the same, of course, and I'm not sure I'd like to know who I might be without the influence of her music, poetry, and general lifestyle. A good friend recommended this book. I had seen it reviewed somewhere, but ...

Another hit for Carole Nelson Douglas
Having been a long-time fan of Ms. Douglas' Midnight Louie series, I decided to try a new genre--fantasy. This was a truly absorbing read with interesting characters, an exciting plot and a delightful (and somewhat sexy) romance. I also enjoyed Delilah's silver familiar. I look forward to the further adventures of Ms. Street, Ric, Quicksilver and, of course, the Las Vegas ambiance ...

ASL in two days
My wife works at a doctors office where they have a couple of deaf patients. She has always wanted to learn sign. She couldn't put the book down. After two days she was signing non-stop. Originally she only wanted to buy the DVD instruction but I encouraged her to use this book too. Now it is the other way around. She goes to this book first and uses the DVDs as a backup. I also got her ...

Pleased, from a new vegetarian
I am a new vegetarian and have never been fond of cooking. I was a bit scared of getting into the vegetarian world with not knowing what to eat and not wanting to cook anything. So, I chose this book because it has recipes that have quick prep time and most recipes are for 1 or 2 servings. This is perfect for a person that lives by themselves, and you can always double the recipe for extra ...

Speech Science provides an integration of scientific material on the acoustics and physiology of speech production and perception with state-of-the art instrumental techniques used in clinical practice. This explicit linkage means that readers find the theoretical information meaningful, less ...

This is a GREAT baking book. I've tried several recipes already and they were all mouthwatering! So many varieties of baked goods are covered in this book, it's almost like a breakfast baking bible. Every recipe has an "At A Glance" box which tells you what kind(s) of pan you need, how to prep the pan, rising time (if necessary), oven temp, baking time, and difficulty so you can choose recipes ...

Charming from start to finish!
I actually listened to the audiobook version, read very entertainingly by John Barrowman himself. I can't say whether the book benefits from a slight abridgment, but I suspect it benefits quite a bit by the addition of John Barrowman's always charming delivery. I smiled all the way through, laughed aloud in places, and found myself touched in more. Besides the look into his life thus far (his ...
