A hydraulic jack of a book
A little book about big stuff. How to use knots, ropes, chains, blocks, tackles, wedges, jacks, levers, ramps, motors and even, in worst case scenarios, your muscles, to levitate the lumps of matter that matter to you. Grand piano in a garret? Barrels of flour in a schooner? Cannon on a peak? Adkins is your man. Aptly illustrated by the author.

Very Cute Bags
I liked most all the patterns in this book. My favorites are the ripple stitch drawsring purse and the updated old pattern for the black purse(nice shape for that purse). I would recommend this book, especially if you are into purses.

My favorite
I really love this series. I've read the other reviews and agree with some aspects - there are a few places that it's a little difficult to understand the speaker so perhaps the recording equipment could be better. I have the Pimsleur Italian Conversational as well. But I almost exclusively listen to the Learn in the Car CDs. I just prefer it. I've used it for about a year now. I've also taken 2 ...

Lovely book to grow into
My 2-year-old and I love this book. While the text is a bit long for her, it is easy to read just some of it, as each page can stand by itself (each page spread is about a different child and family in a different culture). The global map on the end pages show where each family lives, and there are notes at the end about each culture -- very helpful since it was a long time since I took ...

AN UNLIKELY HERO
The author, Gordon Rhea, notes in the INTRODUCTION that "....books about privates are rare" and continues "None tell a story half as fascinating as that of Charles Whilden...." The text is a brief account of Whilden's life stating that his first forty years were characterized by mediocrity and failure. However, Whilden's brief fifteen minutes of glory came at the Bloody Angle at Spotsylvania ...

I-400
I purchased this book to have a reference for the Tamiya 1/350 scale I-400 scale model. I was not disappointed. The book gives a detailed history of the development and operations of this unique submarine. Many photos of the hangar bay, plus the details of the Seiran aircraft, including markings, etc. are very detailed and well executed. There are also many detail shots of major features, ...

Great Bilingual and Multicultural Books!
I own the Arabic and Chinese bilingual versions of this book. Both include English text too. I am so happy that this author considered wriiting and producing books that reflect many students in classrooms today. My students not only need to learn English but maintain their home language which enhances the development of literacy in any language and maintains family/social connections. Thanks ...

How like and unlike we are
David Harrington Watt takes a sympathetic, personal and critical view of three different churches in the metropolitan Philadelphia area. His look at a small fundamentalist church, a grassroots urban Mennonite congregation, and a market-driven "megachurch" illustrate the very different ways that Christians see their mission in the world and their relations to social, political, and economic ...

Benchmark Against Which all Others are Still Rated
The original and - after 30-plus years - still the best of the astronaut auto-biographies (and bios). Put simply, it is the benchmark against which all subsequent astro bios are measured. Only Cunningham's "All American Boys" and in the last year Mullane's "Riding Rockets" come close, but "Carrying the Fire" is still by far the best book. I have either read or hold copies of all the astro ...

The force is proportional to the voltage of the battery connected to the resistive circuit. It also includes calculations of the potential and ...

I am a owner of the book and a patient of the doctor. I have found that the book offers explanations to problems, offers education of the signs and symptoms that other doctors just ignore and offers alternative instructions to helping your next pregnancy be healthy and explains how every mother-to-be has to become "literate" about all of her body signs and partner with her doctor to ensure a ...
