The Tales of Three Trees75 reviews
Angela Elwell Hunt

Cook Communications, 2004

Christian Classic
There is something absolutely timeless about this story--that is probably where the "traditional folktale" bit comes in. I'm not sure just how old the story itself is but I can see why it is still loved today. Ms. Hunt does an incredible job retelling this meaningful and beautiful story of a connection with Jesus Christ through sweet, emotional prose and fantastic pictures. Definitely a keeper.

I Like You52 reviews
Sandol Stoddard

Houghton Mifflin, 1990

From Father to husband
When I was a child my father went to Vietnam. My father sent this book to my mother as a gift. I always read it when I was a child. My father signed the book for my mother when he was overseas. It was a book my mother treasured. Well I'm grown up now and this book is a part of my heart. When I first met my husband I bought this book for him on Sweetest Day. I always told him "I like you." and I ...

How the Grinch Stole Christmas!86 reviews
Dr. Seuss

Random House Books for Young Readers, 1957

the best children's book EVER !!!
How The Grinch Stole Christmas is a classic tale about greed, materialism, and the kindness of man for his fellow man all wrapped up in one great big package! The illustrations are wonderful and the rhyming text impresses me. This is a story by Dr. Seuss that is so popular it was made into a Christmastime TV special; and it deserves every bit of recognition that it gets. (Note: this story is ...

Another World 35th Anniversary: The 35th Anniversary Celebration51 reviews
Julie Poll

HarperEntertainment, 1999

A Must for AW fans
Anyone who watched this soap will enjoy this book. Since this soap was taken from us on the 35th anniversary, this book has even more meaning. You will get to relive the highlights and story lines now missing from our daily lives. I get mine out about every 6 months - or whenever I need a Bay City fix. Looking through the book always manages to bring tears or laughter to me.

The Night Before Christmas Pop-up52 reviews
Clement Clarke Moore

Little Simon, 2002

The Night Before Christmas Pop Up Book
Spectacular Pop-ups, beautifully done, very intricate. Most pages have two separate pop-ups. I will enjoy reading this to my grandchild and we will marvel together at the scenes that magically unfold before our eyes. Not suitable for handling by toddlers without adult supervision because, as with all pop ups, the pages can be torn easily by exuberant little hands!

Red Ranger Came Calling52 reviews
Berkeley Breathed

Little, Brown Young Readers, 1997

My Ultimate Christmas Story
The Red Ranger Came Calling has overtaken every other book, even my now #2 pick How The Grinch Stole Christmas, as my "must-tell" Christmas story. I am not able to read it aloud without tearing up at some point, curiously not always at the SAME point in the story. This is a tall tale, more accurately the re-telling of a tall tale, and it's poignant message to remember to "look up" when seeking ...

Joanna Cotler, 1972

Best Christmas Pagaent Ever
I purchased this book simply to replace my original copy, which I loaned out and which was never returned. Reading this book has been a favorite part of my Christmas for many years. While I regret losing my old copy, I am thankful I will now be able to carry on this tradition.

The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes (Sandpiper Books)44 reviews
Dubose Heyward

Houghton Mifflin, 1939

A CLASSIC THAT SHOULD NOT BE LOST
The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes by DuBose Heyward and illustrated by Marjorie Hack has been around for yours. In fact, it made its first appearance in 1939 and has gone through several printings since that time. The latest one I could find was 1974, which is far too long ago, as this is one that we had better not loose. Briefly, this is the story of a little brown country bunny ...

Olivia Helps with Christmas (Olivia Series)34 reviews

Atheneum, 2007

review
Do you like Christmas? Then this is the book for you. I chose Olivia helps with Christmas because it is really funny and each of the characters has their own personalities. The book is about a pig named Olivia who helps with Christmas. She helps set the table, helps feed her baby brother and they have trouble. Olivia loves making messes, getting into trouble, and she loves lying. She thinks that ...

Eat, Drink & Be Vegan: Great Vegan Food for Special and Everyday Celebrations38 reviews
Dreena Burton

Arsenal Pulp Press, 2007

Excellent!
While I am not a vegan, I do dabble in vegan/vegetarian cooking. So far this cookbook has blown me away! The ingredients are focused on healthy fats and sugars and, of course, the emphasis on whole grains and organic veggies, which is really key for me. The Supercharge Me! cookies are mouth watering! They passed the "kid test" at home and with 2.5 grams of fiber per cookie, no proccessed ...

Jan Brett Night Before Christmas
I LOVE Jan Brett's books! I buy them anytime I see them whether on sale, old ones on Amazon as remainders, or new.. They make great gifts. I have a backup of many to give to children, particularly my granddaughters. The illustrations in this one are so beautiful it is really a keepsake to save as well as enjoy. Give it as a gift and you will make some child very happy and a parent happy, too.

Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree37 reviews

Doubleday Books for Young Readers, 2000

Charming, endearing, and timeless!
This has always been my favorite Christmas Book (just edging out "A Charlie Brown Christmas" by a glowing-red nose!). I'm happy to say that I own an original first printing of both books, but it's "Willowby" that I continue to purchase, year after year, for my friends and their children. The charm of this story lies in the "one person's discards are another person's treasures" category. The ...

Big Pumpkin43 reviews
Erica Silverman

Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing, 1992

The Best Halloween book for preschoolers out there!
Big Pumpkin is so Big in our house, it's read all the time...Oh and our son loves it too! Once my son (4 years old) discovered and fell in love with Big Pumpkin it didn't matter if it was Halloween or not. The story is nothing short of hilarious, the illustrations could not be better suited and truly compliment this book where so many others fall short. My husband and I get such a kick out of ...

A Yankee Century: A Celebration Of The First Hundred Years Of Baseball's37 reviews
Harvey Frommer

Berkley Trade, 2003

How about that, folks?
In the northeast, the winter of 2003-2004 will be remembered as one of the snowiest, iciest, coldest and dreariest in recent memory. A YANKEE CENTURY was the perfect cure for those miserable days. Filled with the baseball history that took place on the sun-drenched field of Yankee Stadium, Harvey Frommer has provided us Yankee [and most baseball] fans with a warm nostalgia and a good feeling for ...

At first she is outraged but eventually composes herself and devises a plan. Where can she find a piggy? The zoo? The circus? The Hallo-wiener33 reviews

Blue Sky Press, 1995

Oh I wish I were an Oscar Mayer Wiener........
I've always been a sucker for the underdogs in life. This book is about a sweet one who in the end teaches us about the real meaning of friendship. I've learned never to judge a book by its cover. This may look like a typical silly book with no thought behind it, but it's so much more! You see, it's about Oscar the dachshund (or as my kids call it - a wiener dog) who just wants to fit in with ...
