Great book !
This is one of the easist I Ching books I've found, so far ! The text is "right on" when throwing the coins for the hexagrams, it always seems to be just what is needed at the time. In times of confusion or crossroads in life this book always seems to give me the answers I need. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I do.

Simple Understanding and Beyond: Derek Lin's Tao Te Ching
After thirty-five years and nearly as many translations, this reviewer finally considered the Tao Te Ching an anachronistic expression of a long lost culture, an epoch beyond the ken of contemporary Western conceptualization. While a beautiful expression of a spiritualism long lost, it remained an altruistic perspective of humanity irrelevant to contemporary liberalist/capitalist individualism. ...

The I Ching you want
I dont think its necessary to say how complex and genius this philosophy is. So I will just say, that if you are in doubt about which book you should get, this is the version to start with. Its the best translation/version i know of. With introduction by Richard Wilhelm and a foreword by Jung! Great stuff! Get it!

That is the wonderful book I never read, very good pictures and good story. That is the way how we should treat animals. It so touched me, the love and compasson from Master not only to her Dogs but also to all beings. It is lot of blessing.

This book is for all ages. It is designed to see a deeper view of animals, our co-inhabitants. I hope when people read this book and look at the illustrations they will have a more compassionate attitude for all living beings.

Like a fine wine ...
Like a fine wine, this collection is best consumed slowly. As it is clearly stated in the foreward, this is not a faithful reproduction of Chuang Tzu but a collection of personal and spiritual interpretations of his work. Readers that expected otherwise might consider reading the description of the book before purchasing it. It would seem embarassing to write a negative review of a product ...

Change the way you look at the world
The author of Tao Te Ching can never be found out with a hundred percent surety. But what is said is important not the one who said it. Tao Te Ching is basically a book that has great philosophical depth. Only religious books like "Bhagavad Geeta", "The Bible", "The Quran", "The Dhammapada" come close to Tao Te Ching. I personally feel The Bhagavad Geeta comes closest to this work. It is always a ...

Very well written book about the I Ching
Usually, the "Complete Idiot's" and "Dummies" books give you the basic information on their subject, with some depth, but nothing too encompassing. I was very surprised with this book -- it gives in-depth information about the I Ching and its history, as well as touching upon other things like synchronicity. The translation of the I Ching included in the book is also rather well done, and ...

Best non-Chinese book on wushu
This volume is nothing but great. It covers all the things you'll need for your wushu training and is crammed with loads of extra information about styles, people, weapons and more. I especially like the fact that it stresses jibengong, the fundamental excercises of wushu, and not taolu (form). The sanda applications are well explained and covers a lot of ground. A little bit more fighting ...

Difficult Subject. Good scholarship.
One can predict the orbit of Moon with great accuracy - that is the realm of physics, and the first author IS a physicist of considerable repute and distinction. But when it comes to predicting the future in a given human situation, one is left with no widely-accepted way, or a theory. Yet, as the authors recoganize, it remains a human need. Whether nature meets this need, or not, cannot be ...

Beautiful book
I own both this one and the I Ching Workbook and they are practically the same book, though this one doesn't have the spiral binding (which you'll need because you'll open it so much) but has the most beautiful, meditative paintings on each hexagram. The pictures give you a profound inner sense of the truth of each throw of the coins, transforming the experience into a deeply effective tool for ...

Plan on rereading it at least once a year.
Being interested in Eastern religions and philosophies, I've read several translations of the Tao Te Ching, one of which is William Martin's (A Path and a Practice). I was so impressed by this book, that I wanted to read more of his writings. Having recently passed "mid-life," I was especially drawn to The Sage's Tao Te Ching. Mr. Martin's interpretation of this ancient work is sensitive, ...

As Visually Beautiful a Journey as Spiritual
Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching (The Book of the Way) has long been referenced by those who seek to understand the Eastern philosophy of the harmony of the universe. In simple, eloquent verse this collection of poems (though there are those who would object to the 'poem' label) the secrets to shedding the self with its attendant judgment, desire, and critique provide the guide for finding oneness with ...

Lends a vision of what is worth waiting for...
Each time I think it's time I settled for something less than fulfilling in life I sit down and read through this book. It calms my soul. It realigns my senses to what it is I'm truly seeking in life and in a partner. I have given this as a wedding gift to those who I think have the mind and soul for such small wisdom as this. I would recommend this book to anyone who seeks to be complete ...

A true treasure of wisdom spiced with fun.
One of my most treasured possessions is battered old Chinese paperback I picked up for the equivalent of about fifty cents many years ago. The print is uneven and smudged, the paper is poor-quality with lots of show-through, and the book isn't even properly bound but has just been stapled together. So why do I treasure it? Well, in the first place because it's a book of selections from a man I ...
