Anonymous

CreateSpace, 2008

Anonymous is a series of stories. Stories are what make the world go round. And they're also what keep a group of prisoners going. Everyday, locked up in their cell, these prisoners spill their guts to the others through toilets and drain pipes, hoping to pass the time until they are able to see the light of day. Some of the stories, they disclose things that only locked up criminals should hear. The other stories, they explain why most people ...

The New Destroyer: Killer Ratings (New Destroyer)5 reviews
Warren Murphy, James Mullaney

Tor Books, 2008

"Killer Ratings" has a killer impact
We're just four books into Remo Williams' latest publishing incarnation, and already writers Warren Murphy and James Mullaney are demonstrating that they intend to not only meet the high standards set by Remo's earlier adventures, but also to surpass those standards. All the trademark Destroyer reference points are here - witty satire, great action sequences, and the always entertaining ...

The New Destroyer: Dead Reckoning (New Destroyer)14 reviews
Warren Murphy, James Mullaney

Tor Books, 2008

The best CURE yet
Back when I first started reading The Destroyer series I was always eager to read the next novel, after reading the third installment of The New Destroyer, I'm waiting again! Political satire, references to mythological creatures and a seemingly unstoppable enemy all contribute to a page turning adventure. The double M's are not pulling any punches with the new novels and the "Dead Reckoning" ...

AMAZING book
I read this book OVER 10 years ago. My father made me read it to keep me busy during a road trip. I loved the book but I was never big on reading AT THE TIME.. Needless to say, the next year I started high school and athletics took up my reading time from then on throughout college. My girlfriend's a "book-a-holic" and got me back into reading and today when we were at the bookstore I was asked ...

Choke458 reviews
Chuck Palahniuk

Anchor, 2002

joy
To me, this book alone defines the hilarious chaos of a post-Y2K world -- especially since I turned 18 the year it was published (even though it didn't find me until 2005). I don't know any other modern American writer who is more honest, unmerciful, intelligent, and witty than Mr. Palahniuk. There are echoes of Henry Miller here, and even pieces of Kerouac. Hopefully the movie does it justice.

Choke Point: WW III3 reviews
Ian Slater

Ballantine Books, 2004

A Fantasy Scenario of Current Events
If you like a book that is big on details of military weapons and short on plot and characters, this is for you. It has a slight resemblance to Tom Clancy, but Clancy has better plots and believable characters. Here, we have terrorists in submarines sinking ships, including a US Navy nuclear submarine and an aircraft carrier, in the narrow Straight of Juan de Fuca leading into Seattle, But the ...

Choke Hold (The New Destroyer)11 reviews
Warren Murphy, James Mullaney

Tor Books, 2007

Remo & Chiun return
I was naive enough to think that Warren Murphy was writing the Destroyer series all by himself after Mr. Richard B. Sapir passed on. Indeed, the internet reveals much, perhaps too much, who really needs to know how the internet works, it just does. Herein is where I learned that James Mullaney was but one of many ghost writers penning the Destroyer series, which cleared up my confusion as to ...

The Grappler's Book of Strangles and Chokes3 reviews
Steve Scott

Turtle Press, 2007

Another great book from Steve Scott
Mr. Scott has taken his years of coaching experience and written another easy to use, informative, text. Much like his Armlock Encyclopedia, this book breaks down each technique into easy steps. The chokes in this book will help everyone who is interested; from the average, couch riding, UFC wannabe, to the serious groundfighting technician.

Guardian Angel (The New Destroyer)19 reviews
Warren Murphy, James Mullaney

Tor Books, 2007

This is the OLD Destroyer!!!!
Wooo! He's back - they're ALL back. Remo, Chiun and Smith have returned to the world they were born in - and it's a GREAT world indeed! The characterizations are right, the dialogue is right, the relationships are right. This is the way it's supposed to be. (I've got ALL the books, read each of them more than once (well... okay, there were a few that I could barely get through once!) and I ...
