a framework for Understanding Poverty
Wow what an enlightening read! I was having difficulty with my students and this book made sense of it. It gave me encouragement that I can do something to reach my students, but that it would not be easy. I have since passed it on to a few of my colleagues. It is too good to not share!

APA Publication Manual is the Best!
There's no way I could be getting through grad school without this manual. I highly recommend this to anyone who is in college. It's straight forward and easy to use. The best section starts on page 306 and has a full-blown APA paper sample for reference. It's great!

The Invisible Americans
I found Nickel and Dimed to be a good book. I read it for my ESL class and it helped me to improve my vocaburaly even though it was so hard at the beginning. It was amazing to realize how some Americans being Americans - as Barbara said in Nickel and Dimed - being white, English speakers, struggle in their own land with an unreasonable economic system. Barbara shows very well how poor workers ...

Exactly as advertised
Great Book...It is exactly as it states, one page;one new topic. All so far are very interesting. This seems like it would be a great textbook for some class. Only thing I would tell prospective buyers...print/font is extremely small. I don't wear glasses or have eye issues and I was shocked at how small the print was. Main points of each topic are in 10 font (estimate), then each subsequent ...

A Must Read
I really enjoyed reading this book. I hated to see it end and that's a rare comment from me. Like Rebecca and titles by Victoia Holt and Susan Howatch, Kate Morton exhibits a wonderful flair for Gothic writing. SWo much so that at times, I felt as if I was at a ball at Riverton swirling in my party dress. I won't repeat a synopsis of the story since so may other reviewers have alrady done ...

Fantastic Book
This book is amazing. I would recommend this to any at any age. I read this in High School and it changed my life. I now own a successful startup company and it is all thanks to the rich dad series for inspiring me to NOT GET A JOB! I recently bought this for my 13 year old brother in law as well. It is not a HOW TO but rather a THINK ABOUT how to!

Enlightening and Empowering
I had the pleasure of hosting David Rothkopf at Stanford University a few weeks ago as a speaker in our Entrepreneurial Thought Leaders lecture series. His talk was riveting and the students responded with great enthusiasm. He used the lecture to emphasis the key theme of his book, Superclass, that there is an small, informal network of people around the world who hold an inordinate amount of ...

Almost a Three, Solid Four for Americans Only
The earlier books on innovation, and especially The Innovator's Dilemma: The Revolutionary Book that Will Change the Way You Do Business (Collins Business Essentials), are better. I strongly recommend that you buy both the above book and this book to have a larger understanding. The book reads like a Harvard case study fleshed out from 40 pages to 230. The book has exactly one bottom line: ...

C# Review
A couple of other reviews on this book confirm what I have discovered in the few chapters I have had time to read, and that is this an excellent book. I have about seven languages under my belt, but this is my first dive into C#, and as a result of this book, I am coming up to speed on this language very quickly. I thank the authors for going out of their way to make the learning curve ...

If you find yourself wondering, "Is this all I'm worth?" when you look at your paycheck, meager benefits (or lack thereof), other poor job opportunities or rising gas, college and home costs, and the increasingly unattainable "American Dream", you are not alone... This book is an excellent primer for those of us who want to know why American jobs are so much less fruitful than those of our ...

Review of the Jungle
I have read one third of the book. I like how the author institutes scenes that depict a good possiblity of family life back then. Since the formation of the FDA and OSHA made the book famous, I'm thrilled to see the makings of a story that created this congressional action of long ago.

Great book!
I loved this beautifully written book. In the hands of another writer, Sarah could easily be annoying and unlikeable. But Crouch has managed to create a lost and self-destructive character who nonetheless charms the reader. My one quibble is not with the book itself but the with the marketing. "Girls in Trucks" is really a series of stand-alone stories which together make up a cohesive ...

If you are a top-down learner this book is not for you. You can safely pick "Dive into Python". However, if you are the bottom-up type, you will not regret. While the Python slogan promises "one way to do it", Mark Lutz will show you four, and explore every detail, like complex list comprehensions, closures and the diamond inheritance pattern. This is why you will wait 200 pages (exploring data ...

The best insight of the Upland South written to date
I have never read, heard, seen a better picture of the South than that in the first five pages of this book. Not the Scarlett O'Hara fictional Old South, but the real red clay and hard rocky ground of the Upland where the overwhelming majority of people live. This should be mandatory reading for anyone who trying to understand the current presidential election. You'll learn more about who these ...

It's the best book available for learning AS3 if you're a raw beginner like I am. I have tried the other learning sources, including the lessons on [...], and this book helped me the most.

Stunning and Powerful Look in to the Human Heart
WOW! I am humbled. I considered myself an ecclectic and well read individual, yet I had not read the genius that is Arundhati Roy! This book tells the heart-breaking story of a well-off family in Kerala, India, and its ultimate downfall. The storyline and the characters are challenging, and I feel compelled to say that the novel is not for those who are faint of heart. Yet, I was mesmerized with ...
