Drugs for Bugs 2003: The Saint-Frances Guide to Outpatient Antimicrobial Therapy4 reviews
Paul D. Baker, Christopher T. Hoey, ...

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2003

Quick, easy and you can actually read the print.
A fellow medical student showed me this pocket book and I am glad I bought it. It is very easy to use and the print is readable. The best part of this book is the list of dosing for Peds. I don't have to look up the amount based on the kg of the child; its right there. Highly recommend for those of us who work or do clinical rotations in the out-patient setting.

Invisible Enemies, Revised Edition: Stories of Infectious Disease9 reviews
Jeanette Farrell

Farrar, Straus and Giroux (BYR), 2005

Just a Start to What You'll Want to Know About Diseases
Some people say that a book has "more than you'll ever want to know" about such and such a thing. Realistically, though, a single volume cannot contain all information on a subject. This book, Invisible Enemies, is not more than you'll ever want to know... it's a start to a whole new search for knowledge. After I read this, I thought I should become an epidemiologist. Though it was ...

Medical Microbiology would be an excellent reference book for any microbiologist. The book also contains wonderfully vivid pictorial accounts of the bacteria and their various modes of ...

Control of Communicable Disease in Man4 reviews

American Public Health Association, 1985

The Bible of Public Health
No Nurse, Doctor, or alternative medicine practitioner should be without it! Enlightening for the average consumer, especially the frequent traveller. I was hoping to find an updated copy also.

Control of Communicable Diseases Manual5 reviews

American Public Health Association, 2000

A "must" have
This is one of the most useful books I have seen. Each chapter of this book summarizes each infectious disease briefly, and comprehensively, including its ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes. The main focus is on public health response to the event of one case, for uncommon diseases, or the event of a cluster of cases for those more common infections. It is particularly useful for people working in the ...

Immunization Theory Vs. Reality: Expose on Vaccinations7 reviews
Neil Z. Miller

New Atlantean Press, 1995

Exposing the Dark Side of Mandatory Vaccination
This book was well worth a second read. I first read it in 1996. As a member of the generation that was allowed to get the measles and chicken pox, this book made sense to me. As the parent of a child brain-damaged from pertussis vaccine toxins, I welcomed this well researched work. I wish I had read it when I was pregnant with Bill. I read so much on nutrition and breast-feeding. I did not ...

Killer Germs12 reviews
Barry E Zimmerman, David J. Zimmerman

McGraw-Hill, 2002

Informative and fun to read
I used this book for one of my classes and I was dreading having to read a book about biology and diseases. After reading the first chapter I got hooked, and couldn't set the book down. I read it in three days while I was out hiking in the woods and it made me a little paranoid about ticks that might be in the grass and other insects! The book definitely makes you think about every living ...

Throat Culture3 reviews
Christopher Golden

Topeka Bindery, 2005

Book order for Body of Evidence of series
I've been unable to find the books of this series in order, so I thought I'd provide them here, with the tenth, and apparently last, in the series. Needless to say, I've enjoyed them all very much. I'm *much* older than the recommended age group for these, but then I like the Paddington books too! 1. Body Bags (May 1999) 2. Thief of Hearts (August 1999) 3. Soul Survivor (November 1999) ...

Informative and interesting book, easy read.

Frank E. Berkowitz

Cambridge University Press, 2007

Superb & Unique
This is a wonderful and unique book, a waltz across the wide variety of infectious diseases led by an experienced guide. Not only are individual infections covered in detail, but the case-study organization lends itself to ...

The New Killer Diseases: How the Alarming Evolution of Mutant Germs Threatens Us All4 reviews
Elinor Levy, Mark Fischetti

Crown, 2003

Lions, tigers and PRIONS, beware!
This is not the sort of information that one should talk about at the next wedding reception; especially if there stands a food buffet complete with salad bar --- salad bars are the 'Typhoid Mary's' of our modern, super-infectious times. Authors Elinor Levy and Mark Fischetti talk intelligently about 'super-spreaders."...No - not merely persons possessing big booties, but instead, people infected ...

Infectious Diseases (Colour Aids)4 reviews
A. P. Ball

Churchill Livingstone, 1985

Concise text with high quality pictures.
I bought this pocket book atlas when I was a junior medical student 3 years ago in a Book Exhibition. It has joined my "illustrative books collection" since that time. Illustrations explain better than texts, and you tend to remember the diseases quickly. Features of this pocket book include: - It covers wide range of infectious diseases compared to its size. - User-friendly format. - The text is ...

94 S: Excellent Resource, Environmental Health professionals
I have just reviewed the ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING AND SANITATION 1994 SUPPLEMENT, by Joseph A. Salvato and Joe E. Beck. It's a great resource for professionals seeking a broader vision of environmental health practice areas and where we are heading. Prof. Beck obviously put a lot of work into conceptualizing this volume and working with the distinguished contributors. It shows. In ...
