Process Consultation Volume II Review
In this second volume, Schein builds on Volume I by dissecting the nature of process and change in lieu of the specific group processes that make or break effective group work. Likewise, in this volume, he brings the concept of process consultation home, so to speak, to help managers and leaders understand themselves and their organizations as a consultant might understand them. Given that ...

Comprehensive
While this text offers a comprehensive treatment of the subject, I found it to be somewhat too verbose. There should be more diagrams and other comprehension aids. At times it felt as though I was reading a doctoral thesis.

Ridiculously Verbose and Boring
This is quite possibly the worst text book I have ever tried to read. It seems as though the author took a simple subject and squeezed the life out of it in order to fill more pages. I do not recommend this book to anyone, unless you are having trouble falling asleep or you like wasting your money.

Schein shines in his succint and clear consulting book
The book has pragmatic information that can be applied, and explains enough theory for anyone to understand where the consulting model is coming from. Well written by a leader in organizational development.

Not very useful for the class
I took a class on consultation and collaboration at the graduate level for School Psychology. I found the text to be very redundant, and the case studies to be quite dry.
Systems Consultation: A New Perspective for Family Therapy
The Guilford Press
, 1986
The application of systems theory to human behavior brought about a new understanding of the basic unit of psychological meaning, and with it a new brand of therapy. Thirty years later, family therapy is a full-fledged discipline with numerous schools, strategies, examples of success, and dogmas. SYSTEMS CONSULTATION challenges two of those dogmas: first, that what family therapists should be doing is curing problems; second, that family ...

This book is not very good
This book promotes itself as a comprehensive resource for understanding consultation within a school setting. I am a school counselor, and I would not recommend it. While it may be some support for someone considering entering the school counseling profession, most of what I found inside of it should be common knowledge in any school counseling graduate program. Simply stated, if you don't pick ...
